Tennessee's Devin Mathis kicks a field goal against Vanderbilt on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at Neyland Stadium.

It's nice to know that even in the high-profile, high-pressure world of college football, there's still a little room for Rudy.

Neyland Stadium was a case in point Saturday night.

When the Vols lined up for the extra-point attempt after their first touchdown against Vanderbilt, No. 93 stood front and center.

A quick check of the Vols' roster indicated that No. 93 was defensive tackle Montori Hughes.

He was in S. America playing soccer and studying there...and was not on the team for a bit....who would have imagined that in 09 we are so happy for a kicker? He did good...good job by the staff to find him and get him a spare jersey.

Wonder why the story doesn't mention his later field goal, which is obviously more significant than a PAT?

If only he had been there for the Alabama game.

With 30 seconds left, Kiffin elected to go on 4th and 3 rather than kick a 42 yd FG and put the game out of reach. I think that may something about Mathis' range. The final kick in the Bama game was some 7 yards longer than that.

Finally good for Montori to start contributing after such a good spring....did he go on the atkins diet? He realy dropped some weight.

Love it! Great to have you, Devin! Does anyone know if he'll be given his own number? I'm not sure how that all works.

I am not surprised and in fact would be willing to bet that there is at least one current student, in the general student population, who can kick-off better than our our current guy, the punter.

Great story for the kid, but before people get out there and start spewing the where was he before Bama stuff...I had seats behind the field goal UT warmed up on and watching him at halftime, he could not hit field goals from either hash mark, and had a very limited range. I doubt he could have hit anything over a 30 yarder from straight on.

Daniel Lincoln did his best and wanted to succeed, but in life, business, sports there is a peak--he hit it his Freshman year and was not able to get better. Let's not forgfet Lincoln is a good kid with with above average academic marks. I believe Daniel's carrerr is done at UT and Cunninham's is not too far behind. If you all recall Chad is a legacy player at UT, following in his fathers foot steps.

one thing is for sure- both Punter and Kicker have been given ample opportunties to succeed...Next
