UT can affect Music City Bowl

Officials will visit final game at UK

Full event details »

— Music City Bowl president Scott Ramsey will be at Saturday's Kentucky-Tennessee game because that result could have the biggest impact on which SEC will come here.

Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas and Auburn are the SEC teams that Ramsey is most closely monitoring as likely candidates for the Dec. 27 game at LP Field.

In the ACC, Ramsey said North Carolina, Miami and Florida State remain the teams that will most likely wind up here. One of those will probably be invited to a bowl that picks ahead of the Music City.

I hope UT wins, but Tennessee in the Music City Bowl against Florida State could be the best case scenario for this bowl committee. And they know it.

The match-up that gives us the best chance of winning and the bowl game that will generate us the most money for our program is the one I want us to go to.

i don t think anyone wants the music city bowl.. at this point, with all the talk about the outback and the peach, i think the music city would be a bit of a disappointment

The only problem I have with the MCB is it is going to be played at night! My guess is around 30 degrees at kickoff. I live in Murfreesboro, so a UT-Miami mathchup would be nice.

As I understand it, all the Bowl Money goes in the SEC Pot, and is divided up evenly between the 12 Schools

You are correct. All revenue generated from the bowls goes into the SEC pot. Then divided by 13 (12 teams + SEC office gets 1 share) which is distributed between the SEC Schools.

Don't mind those match-ups.

In other words...I like them. Also, V-Tech in the Chick-Filet would be great.

Last time the gaturds made a prediction (i.e. a 60-0 shutout of TN) they got debunked and blamed it on the flu. Now, you're assuming that we finish 6-6. Still, even if we do, 6-6 is not bad for a first year coaching staff that's playing with a bare cupboard from Ol' Phil.

Despite Fulmer leaving the team talent poor, they still put a decent team on the field. So yeah best coaching staff.

I don't care who you are, that's funny right there!!!

brokebackvol writes:

I don't mind the jokes but honestly, UT playing in Nashville is HORRIBLE for the state's economy as it stands revenue stream-wise. Probably would get a fairly close to sell-out, but would need the other team to travel well and spend money. I do think Virgina Tech would be a good matchup as far as interest but in a different bowl.

There are so many bad bowls out there that are not appealing to fans, does it matter what 2nd rate bowl the Vols will get? In this economy fans are not gonna shell out $100 per ticket to see a UT-Minnesota matchup.
