JACKSON - North Side High School forward/post player Casey Prather has been recruited by some of the top college basketball coaches in the country.
Fewer than two months before he starts his senior season, the 6-foot-5, 189-pound Prather committed to Florida before having a late dinner with Gators coach Billy Donovan, his stepfather and high school coach Tony Brown at a local restaurant.
Prather said he went to Florida for a visit two weekends ago and hung out with some of the players and "loved everything about it."

Guess Pearl wasn't interested in 6'5" 189 lb post player. He did have another offer from Michigan, according to Rivals.

I wish him luck, but I can't imagine someone his size playing the post in the SEC.

I go to Jackson-South Side and saw him and his team play last winter. I havent heard of him till yesterday. He was very non-discript against us and I didn't notice him at all. Wish him the best of luck.

Supposedly this guy is a freakish type athlete. He's in the Rivals top 100. Instead of losing recruits in Memphis, I wonder why we didn't take a harder look at this guy. I hope it doesn't come back to bite us.

Good pickup! I'm still amazed we didn't offer this kid -- good character and intellect. Hopefully we won't bring in another Josh Tabb (someone that stays in trouble for whatever reason).

Pastner in Memphis had been recruiting Prathers as he spent sometime in Memphis during the Summer. Never understood Pearl not pursuing this kid. All we need now is for him to hit a game winning shot against UT. That will raise a whole lot of questions on Pearls recruiting tactics. What I'm surprise is that more Vol fans have not questioned why Pearl doesn't recruit the State better. Obviously he can't get anyone out of Memphis, but there are other good recruits going to Arkansas, Ole Miss, Minnesota, Tulsa, etc.
