Reveiz surgery called successful

Tennessee head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh reports that junior linebacker Nick Reveiz underwent successful anterior cruciate ligament surgery Wednesday and has been released from UT Medical Center. Drs. Greg Mathien and Russell Betcher of Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic performed the surgery.

“Nick is expected to be limited in spring practice and have a full recovery by next season,” McVeigh said. At the time Reveiz was injured during Tennessee’s Sept. 26 victory over Ohio, he ranked second on the team with 41/2 tackles for loss and third in overall stops with 27.

His tenacity will get him back. No doubt. Any surgery like an ACL has a price and I don't just mean rehab. We'll see him next year in whatever role CLK sees fit. Nick Reveiz is a dam good Vol...

oscar285 writes:

Excellent news! Can't wait to see you back in the middle next year making life miserable for opposing offenses. A speedy recovery, Nick. You are the essence of what it means to be a Tennessee Vol.

2407westTN_VOLSfan writes:

Nick, what else can be said that has not been said here already? I had some doubt about you before the season. Words were, "too short", "too slow", "too timid", "not able to do anything with the bigger offensive linemen"! All this seemed to be wiped away by your perserverance and HEART! Give me a player that plays with HEART anytime. You made it happen and seemed to be everywhere and making most of the tackles before the injury. Get well soon my friend! Continue to work hard to rehab the Knee and you will be back taking down ball carriers and reaking havoc in the backfield in the near future!

GO BIG ORANGE!

Nick did redshirt in 2006, when he was a true freshman. I'm doubtful about the medical redshirt too. The Ohio game was the fourth game of the season which is one-third of the way through the season. I think the rule for the medical RS is less than a quarter of the schedule. Maybe I can find out with a little web search.

SWAVol writes:

Get well Nick. Keep your head straight and push thru the rehab. See you next season.

FWBVol writes:

As best I can determine about the medical RS guidelines up until a year or two ago it was an athlete having competed in 20 percent or less of their team's total number of games in the first have of the season, but that was changed to 30 percent in the last few years. Either way, Ohio was game four in a 12-game schedule which would make it 33 percent of the games on the schedule and Nick still wouldn't qualify for the medical RS.

If someone has better information about the medical RS please correct me if I'm wrong.

During the Georgia game, Nick would hobble out on the field after every kick off and would get the kick off tee and run off the field. (or hobble) He is a true example of a leader. He will be successful in whatever he does in life.

Get well Nick and be ready to bring it next season. This team will need your leadership.

The rule is 20% of the season with all games played in the first half of the season rounded to the next whole number. So 20% of a 12 game season is 2.4 games; thus 3 games. He played in the fourth and would be ineligible.
