The Tennessee Lady Vols rebounded from their season-opening swimming and diving loss at Louisville to beat LSU 170-130 at the Bengal Tiger Aquatic Club in Baton Rouge, La.
Jamie Saffer and Michele King, who swam a leg of the victorious 200 medley relay to start the meet, were double winners in individual events for UT.
Saffer won the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 2.58 seconds and led a Lady Vols sweep of the top three spots in the 200 breast, winning in 2:17.11.
King won both freestyle sprint events, taking the 50 freestyle in 23.06 and the 100 free in 49.86.
Aleksa Akerfelds also won two events: the 1,000 free (10:19.66) and 500 free (5:01.20).
"We were much better today,'' Lady Vols coach Matt Kredich said. "Saffer and King were great leaders and Jenny (Connolly) set a standard for our team in terms of intensity.
"This meet was more like our team, as we competed well and were aggressive. Those should be automatic, though, and not things we have to reach for. That's the way we practice and it has to be the way we compete. We have some really high goals for this year and we have a lot of work to do."
