NASHVILLE, Tenn. — We've reached the midway point of the college football season, or what Heisman Trophy voters refer to as: what in the world is going on?
It was all so clear before the season started. You had the trio of exalted quarterbacks. In no particular pecking order, the Heisman would belong to Florida's Tim Tebow, Texas' Colt McCoy or Oklahoma's Sam Bradford.
No one else need apply. Other schools could keep their catchy little mailings and updates. The firm of Tebow, McCoy and Bradford would decide the Heisman.

As seen against Arkansas, and LSU to a lesser degree, you really do not have to beat anybody to beat anybody. I think Slive better give the SEC officials a raise so they can quite being supplemented from Gainesville.

Your ignorance overshadows you. Tebow has NOT done anything spectacular this season, hence he will not win the Heisman. You’ll lose to Bama in the SEC title ultimately eliminating any chance for a national title. You fail!
Florida couldn’t even shut down Arkansas… what makes you think you’ll shut down Ingram?!?!

This Bama team is deeper than last year. We won't fizzle in the fourth qtr this time. Florida has shown much all season. It's the Tide this time, baby. If it weren't for the officials, the Gators would have a big "L" posted to them, a game by Arkansas which Bama beat handily.

A rare nod to Joe.

As far as I can see those 3 QBs haven't done much of anything.. and not just because I am a Vols fan, but whats up with Hardesty getting no recognition for Heisman...??? He is the one who keeps us in every game and one of the nations top rushers!!!

I heard the officials from the Fl/Ark game were leading the heisman voting.
Tebow wins the Tyler Wyndham award. For the best player to get blown up and leaving the gayfers all crying and hugging on each other.

Are you really that blind to Bama's offense? I understand that its more acceptable for a Bama team to win with defense and running, but this thought that their offense is much more potent and balanced than Florida's is ridiculous. Last week is a perfect example with Bama. They had ONE PLAYER on offense who accounted for about 280 yards while the rest of the team only accounted for around 80 yards. Yet when thats Florida with Tebow it is said they only have Tebow. Its perception vs. reality and here is the reality of both offensive leaders on the season:
Passing:
McElroy: 1325 yards 9 TD passes
Tebow: 1032 yards 8 TD passes
Rushing:
Ingram: 905 yards 8 TDs
Demps: 444 yards 5 TDs
Now granted Bama's leading rusher almost doubles UFs, but UF also uses more players running the ball as you can see below the other numbers on the other guys they use regularly.
Tim Tebow- 378 yards 5 TDs
Chris Rainey- 281 yards 2 TDs
Emmanuel Moody- 235 yards 0 TDs.
Even the game most want to compare to (arkansas) there isnt much of a difference in the offensive output (Bama- 425 UF- 391) If there is any difference its turnovers. Florida has given more away than Bama, which is something that can be fixed.
So while this perception is that Bama is far more balanced, the reality is, both UF and Bama are playing in the same fashion. Both rely heavily on their running games and both are struggling in the passing game. Bama alone has only had 2 offensive TDs in their last two games. So your idea of UF defense not being able to stay on the field with Bama's offense is a bit funny. S.Carolina dominated that Bama offensive line quite a bit last week and finally caved in by the 4th qtr. after their inept offense couldnt hold on to the ball for more than 3 plays because of Garcia's poor passing skills and not being able to hit wide open WRs.
In the end though, we will see on Dec. 5th.

Fine... then look at it this way:
- Alabama's defense is better this year than last
- UF's offense is worse this year than last
- UF's defense hasn't looked particularly dominant this year either
My prediction: Bama shuts down Teblow and the mighty Gators offense and Ingram runs it down your defense's throat.
Starting to get it yet?

Ingram should be leading the Heisman voting for whats is worth. If I could choose a RB I would pick Hardesty if he had Bama's line he would get alot more respect nationally. UT's line has done a good job as a unit for him but they miss too many one on one blocks. Tebow would be sittin on the sidelines without his lineman. If we can win the line of scrimmage sat. there will be an upset this weekend.
GO VOLS!!!

UFs offense worse than last year?
2008 thru 6 games:
Total yards: 2426
Passing yards: 1268
Rushing yards: 1158
2009 thru 6 games:
Total yards: 2823
Passing yards: 1264
Rushing yards: 1559
Yeah your right, UF offense had 4 more passing yards after 6 games last year. man!
Defensive stats 2008 thru 6 games:
Total yards: 1646
Passing yards: 1068
Rushing yards: 578
2009 stats thru 6 games:
Total yards: 1370
Passing yards: 800
Rushing yards: 570
hmmn! again less yards given up thru 6 games this year than thru 6 last year, but they are worse?
Points for and against 2008:
231-78
2009:
218-52
Total points is 2 points less a game scored than last year while defense has given up 5 points less a game than last year.
So Im not sure exactly what we are "supposed to start and get" but maybe you need to get the fact that UF is 6 games into the season and A LOT will happen between now and December 5th. While UF has not been overly impressive you can look at the history under Meyer and his teams always get better throughout the year (as any good team does), but in the end, none of this matters, because like last year when UF went into Atlanta against a 12-0 #1 Bama team and was told they couldnt handle their defense or running game, they will get a chance to prove it on Dec. 5th.

Yeah, I guess your stats would look better this year when your first 2 games are Troy and GA Southern. Last year your first 2 games were Hawaii and Miami... much better teams than the other 2 pushovers. My point being is FL doesn't look nearly as dominant as last year. Last year, aside from the flop at Ole Miss, you're closest game was 11 points, and that was Bama in the SEC championship. Every other team you destroyed! This year you've already had 3 teams within 10 points. FL looks primed for an upset this year.
