Tennessee has struggled to get off the field on third down.
But Alabama still hasn't been able to find the end zone.
The Vols gave up big completions, a long scramble and were hit with a costly penalty to give up critical conversions in the first quarter, but they only trailed 3-0 to No. 1 Alabama by the end of it.
Leigh Tiffin knocked in a 38-yard field goal late in the frame to give the Crimson Tide the first lead, but UT has responded with three productive plays to move into Alabama territory heading into the second quarter. Jonathan Crompton has made a handful of nice throws as the Vols try to establish a passing game, but the senior quarterback forced one bad ball that was intercepted and led to the only points of the game so far.

Can I get the rules for a moral victory so I can feel like a real TN fan this year? I mean, I understand actual winning, but do we get a moral victory by a) beating the point spread, b) leading at any point in the game, c) JC throwing <3 picks. Any help on understanding the rules of moral victories is appreciated.

Here I'll type slower so maybe I can get an answer this time. With the score 3-9 at the half should I be a) thrilled b) estatic or c)merely satisfied. I'm not used to the moral victory idea so I'm trying to get these rules down before the end of the game.

You seem fairly worked up about it. Again, when this board blows up after the game when TN has lost, I want to know what constitutes a moral victory. You know, a guideline. After looking at the number of posts you have, you certainly have no life and spend it on this board, so I look to you are the all knowing arbiter of moral victory rules.

The game ain't over until the end of the 4th qtr. Yes it could be better and it could be worse. Unlike years of recent past when at 1/2 time it was time to start talking about next week.

Hmmm we are going to win this game. I believe that. Alabama does not look like the number one to me. We are moving the ball through the air, slow on the ground, but they are the opposite of us offensively today. All the really have had any success with is the wild-cat. That won't work with CMK all game.
The pick was bad but I can see why he threw it. Down one foot and its a big gain. Lots of people wearing red will be sad tonight. Write that down.

A moral victory is when fans from top ranked team talks all summer about "hanging 50-60 points" on a 4 TD underdog. Then that underdog goes to top ranked team's homefield with less talent and loses by 10 points. Now, there it is, stfu and watch the rest of the game.
Michael palardy can't get here fast enough!!

We'll make adjustments and get Hardesty going on the ground to shorten the game. We'll throw one up top to win it. go VOLS

You really are clueless. You can't recognize a troll and ignore it. All TN fans have to do to get rid of trolls is not reply. That's it. I'll be here all game to reply - try the veal.

So again, azz hat, what are the rules for TODAY'S game. It's confusing I realize between Alabama and Florida, but really it's two separate teams and apparently 2 sets of rules for moral victories.

A moral victory is what you get in church when a sinner gives his life to God.
This is football it isn't played for morals it is played for wins and losses.
Enough of this "What is a moral win" BS.
At the end of the season there are 3 columns wins, losses, and ties. I have never seen a moral column.

Apparently you didn't visit the board after the Florida game to realize TN fans believe in moral victories. Let's talk about the over/under on moral victories after TN loses in a close hard fought game.

Honestly Tennessee has respect for Alabama cause they've earned it. When Alabama beats florida in the championship game will you have respect for them?

Crompton played an awesome game and as usual the Kicking team blew it for us. Alabama is NOT a good team. They squeaked by us. Thank God the refs in the ARKANSAS and FLORIDA game have been suspended. ALBAMA was LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY...that's ok..luck is part of the game. As for their pathetic fans, you hardly beat the hell out of anyone and YOU Know it. Just keep pretending you were awesome while not even scoring a touchdown in the entire game.
