TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — When Tennessee lost at top-ranked Florida 23-13 a month ago, the Vols left The Swamp with a mood that bordered on celebratory.
If ever there was a moral victory, that was it.
Now the game has changed.
In the hour or so after UT's 12-10 last-second loss at Alabama on Saturday, the Vols were equal parts disappointed and angry.

It amazes me that when Tennessee plays a team close or beats a good team how the articles and analysis always points out that the other team didn't play so well. I don't give a phooey if your a Bama fan or who you root for...if you watched that game yesterday and say Tennessee didn't out play them and smack them in the mouth then you were asleep. Bama played a good sound game and we did as well with the exception of special teams. On the other hand, I love to watch this Tennessee team play. This team plays with so much heart and it's just a lot of fun watching them play now.

Good to hear AL websites realize they played a good team. I'm sure Saban will come out soon saying his team was fighting the flue or something, and we really didn't try to win.

And you my friend are still a jerk.

Good to have the pride back. UT will start winning these again soon. Huge improvement from the past few years.

Who can really win as a Head Coach for the worst Franchise in the NFL? Al Davis is cynical mindless owner who needs to sell the Oakland Raiders. You give Kiffin some time maybe another year or two and UT will be back where they were in the late 90's. Two of the four losses to the top two teams in the land were by a total of 12 points. That just shows you how close our team really is. However, the two losses to UCLA and Auburn were bad. UCLA is a bottom deweller in the PAC-10 and Auburn looks just like an average team. Moving forward, our team is improving every week and now if we can shore up our Special Teams most importantly the Kicking game we can finish 8-4 or 7-5. Our boys still have a lot to play for this season and the last five games are winnable. Who knows finish the season strong and The Peach Bowl or Outback Bowl wouldn't be out of the question. Keep your head up Vol Nation the season is not over yet!

I enjoyed the game. Wish we had won but really happy we are playing hard. Best I remember us playing in several years. Only thing that stands out is that Bama is much more talented. Lots of depth.

Just watched the replay of the game on ESPN. Bama should have been flagged for fifteen yards and a re-kick after Cody took his helmet off while ball was still live. I hope UT is chewing on the SEC. I don't normally gripe about officials but you got to wonder when the 3rd least penalized team in the country has a 10 to 1 (that's right Bama only had 1) penalty ratio including missing the game ending call. Kiffin, take the fine and stick up for your players, this was disgraceful!!!

The happiest lost I could think of would be your front teeth. With your right to use the net as a close second.

Welcome to the SEC. No way is ref changing a win to a loss with FL and ALA this year.

I hope this coaching staff can get the Vols to get over this loss quickly and get them to take out their anger of the loss to bama on the gamecocks come Halloween night at Neyland Stadium. These Vols have fought too hard this season to have an emotional letdown vs the gcocks. Lincoln should be on suicide watch, I feel bad for that young man. Oh yea, way to shut up the critics Crompton! Go Vols!!!

Good post! My buddy made a funny joke about Lincoln last night after the game. He said tomorrow's headline will read "TENNESSEE KICKER ATTEMPTS SUICIDE" subtitle "BUT CANNOT KICK CHAIR FROM UNDER FEET" Thought I would share that since our kicking game costs us the game. Keep your heads up Vols and lets win out!

Alabama recovered the blocked FG, what should the refs have done, penalize them 15 yards from where it was recoveredwith no time on the clock? Wake up!

Now, about that non-call on Cody. Yes, an SEC officiating crew screwed up again. This time, it didn't matter.
Howls erupted after Cody's goal block saved Alabama's bacon. Cody indeed removed his helmet while still in the field of play. That's a big no-no, and it usually merits a 15-yard penalty. But here's where the howlers are wrong. Even if officials had flagged Cody, Tennessee wouldn't have gotten another kick.
Because Alabama blocked and recovered the ball, Alabama had possession. The game can't end on a defensive penalty, but because of the possession change, Alabama wasn't on defense. We'll let SEC spokesman Charles Bloom take it from here.
"The foul for taking helmet off is a live ball foul treated as a dead-ball foul," Bloom wrote in an e-mail Saturday night. "That is, if it happens on a play where time does not expire then the penalty is enforced on the following play. However since the clock ran out on that play, then there is no next play, so there is no penalty to mark off."

That makes sense but who cares? Bamma made the play and if it was the other way around i would say that i would be pissed to no end if that flag was called on us in the same situation. UT fans can be pissed with the kicker, the o-line, the coaches decision not to continue the drive. You can argue any of these, but to look over everything and say that flag should have been thrown and UT should have got a another kick is ridiculous. I mean that would have been sweet and I sure as hell wouldn't have complained if that did happen but I can't really say that i feel like it should have happened. A game "should" never be determined by officials unless the call is 100% irrefutable. Bamma may have been lucky. We may feel like we should have won, but bamma won, and they won fair.

Anyone that cannot see the obvious improvement that our Vols have made in recent weeks simply doesn't want to see the improvement. They have some ulterior motive, be it outright hatred of LK or bitterness over the firing of Fulmer or both... that keeps them from being objective whatsoever. We played the No. 1 team in the country with one of the best defenses in the country on their own turf and actually came back from being down 9pts with 3:21 left in the game to have a chance to upset them on the last play of the game. And where exactly did this team come from. We stunk it up royally last year. We had no faith in our QB. Up to two weeks ago our offense was itself offensive. Now here we are with an opportunity to beat the No. 1 team in the country... and all the haters come out just because we came up short? I don't buy that. You were just looking for something to fuel your pre-existent anger. You are the real losers, a bunch of bitter malcontents whose thirst for vengeance leads you to make distasteful and unforgivable comments like the ones regarding the life of our kicker under the guise of a "joke." How is that funny?
Our Vols are on their way back. What I saw on the field in the actions of our offensive unit on Saturday was something that has been missing for a long time. What I saw in our offensive unit was the desire and belief that they could win this game. They never quit. When there was no way; they made a way. If you cannot focus on that; if you cannot see that - well, nothing I can say will make a difference anyway.
I yield back the balance of my time to Witch Doctor. Go Vols!!!

Actually a game can't end on defensive penalty! Offense gets one more play!

So you are saying Bama should have gotten 1 play to go into victory formation......he game can't end on a defensive penalty, but because of the possession change, Alabama wasn't on defense.
