With ESPN picking these up they will be spread across all of their networks to make sure they are on. They cannot show a game on the networks while the CBS national game is going on. The UGA game was the same weekend as CBS doubleheader so every televised game had to be at noon. They cannot show a game against the 3:30 game so all televised conference games will either be at noon or 7:30. I like to watch as many SEC games as well, but as long as the team in orange is televised is all I really care about.

Even the Ohio game was "televised" out of state. I watched it for free on espn360.com.

At least it's on TV, I figured this one would be PPV.

Didn't the University promise that we'd never play a night game in November after that last Kentucky loss in the 80's?
volboy81 writes:
it was after the 1983 Ole Miss game they promised that. It was about 10 degrees. I think my feet have finally thawed out....

Pathetic, but TV rules. Playing a meaningless opponent at 7pm in November. I hope it's 20 degrees.

Get ready! We're going to kick your...oh wait it's football. Nevermind. Enjoy the W. Fire Tommy West.

Well, I WISH it was an automatic win, but Memphis usually plays the Vols pretty tough. I expect that will be the case this season, also.

So why are you a UT fan??? Memphis doesn't support football b/c it doesn't win. Plain and simple. Same reason no one supported UT basketball before CBP showed up. Winning solves a lot of problems. When we did start winning in '03 we were drawing 45-50,000 fans per game. Granted, that's no 100,000 like UT normally draws but not bad for CUSA. I know you don't want to hear the excuse but yes, a new on-campus stadium would help and yes, a top tier head coach would help as well. The gap between BCS and non-BCS is getting wider and wider. Lot's of speculation right now for Memphis to get into the BigEast, which would help. 10 years ago, Memphis could make a game of it(evidenced in '99, '00, and I think '05) but right now, with things the way they are I see this as a 3 touchdown win minimum for the Vols. Every Memphis fan I know is always treated well in Knoxville and always has a good time. Good luck and I am looking forward to going!

Memphis supported the Tigers in the late 50's and early 60's when Spook Murphy was coach In those days the Tigers could fill Crump Stadium. Admittedly, by modern standards it's a small stadium, but it attracted some quality games in those days. From 58-63 the Tigers were a better team than the Vols, but in 64, when the Tigers were expected to be a good team, they did not play well and the FB program began going downhill.

Understandable. My parents went to Kentucky so I grew up a Kentucky fan. It's hard to stop pulling for the team you grew up loving. Unless of course they're playing the Tigers. Was Rex Dockery as good of a coach as many have said? Lifelong Tiger fans claim that he could have really been the turnaround coach the football program needed. I was too young but I'm interested in your opinion since you played for him.

Awesome story and great tragedy. Who knows what might have been? Thanks for sharing that. Very cool.

With this new TV deal, there will be more night games....prefer playing in the sunshine!

Great story. I grew up in Memphis and both my folks were grads and I got my law degree there after UT. I'm still partial to the bball Tigers except when they play UT. Please share more of your perspectives when you have the chance. It will be much more insightful than all the phooey we get from folks on this board who never played the game, especially at the college level.

Hey, some nice Tiger fans fo a change. Thanks, guys. Maybe you can rub off on some of my parishioners who think I should abandon my love of the Vols and support all Tiger programs just because I live in Memphis. Phooey!
