Cobbs switches from Vols to Texas

DeMarco Cobbs has switched his commitment from Tennessee to Texas, according to OrangeBloods.com.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound wide receiver from Tulsa (Okla.) Central High School originally committed to Tennessee on Sept. 13.

Cobbs told the Vols' coaching staff about his change of plans Thursday.

"It wasn't easy at all, but I had to be a man," Cobbs told OrangeBloods.com. "I committed to them and I didn't want Tennessee to hear about it from anybody else, I wanted them to hear about it from me."

Tennessee still has commitments from three receivers for the 2010 signing class: Markeith Ambles from Henry County High in McDonough, Ga., Ted Meline from Miami North (Fla.) High and Matt Milton from Mascoutah (Ill.) High.

UT is recruiting several other receivers, including Chris Dunkley from Pahokee (Fla.) High.

Dunkley plans to visit UT this weekend.

The Vols received an official visit from receiver Kenny Stills from La Costa Canyon High in Carlsbad, Calif., on Sept. 11. He could make a decision by early December.

UT also has recruited Kenny Shaw from Dr. Phillips High in Orlando, Fla. Shaw has long favored Florida State.

The Vols could continue to pursue receiver Da'Rick Rogers, who's committed to Georgia. UT recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron visited Calhoun (Ga.) High earlier this month to show the Vols are still interested in him.

I like the comment, "I had to be a man and tell them I am breaking my word",
I grew up liking FL State but I do not see what would draw a kid to their program. It is a program that is stagnant at best and does not appear to be changing.
Oh well I can respect a kid for doing what is best for himself, the Universities certainly will.
