KNOXVILLE -- When most people start doling out praise for the University of Tennessee's stout defense, they start with coordinator Monte Kiffin and All-America safety Eric Berry.
Some also credit senior weakside linebacker Rico McCoy, the Southeastern Conference's second-leading tackler. Many mention the speed-rushing prowess of junior end Chris Walker, especially when he's healthy.
But Volunteers coaches and players know two more names who have, with much less notoriety, made an immense impact the past three seasons.

During the game last week Danielson mentioned how much Dan Williams jumped out at him when he watched the tape of the UT games. As long as these guys continue playing the way they have been I like our chances in every game.

Rogan played lights out. Not to mention he made smart decisions with the pigskin on punt returns.

Rogan is a stud.... Defense should be very good next year as well, even with the loss of Berry

DeMarco Cobbs switched to Texas.

Good article from Wes. I think both guys are huge assets to our defense, and Rogan has been a very versatile player. He can hit, tackle, cover, return kicks, well you get my point. Lets close out strong and 8-4 is possible, 7-5 is more likely, 6-6 worse case, I think.

I wonder if the black/orange unis this weekend are a rumor or fact? Anyone heard?

We lost a good one. Ambles is slightly better on paper. The other commmits are very close.

Advice to racist "Naffy" Ellison. Go away. Far away. Your rants against all players White at Tennessee have gotten very old. You've been banned under several screen names, but KNS could ban your computer if they really tried. Have a nice day.

Dennis was an absolute stud with a going forward mentality for a running back at Fulton. Working with two great defensive coaching staffs and alongside Eric Berry, he has developed into a fly-in-the-ointment for our opponents. No team thinks he could possibly cover, that it must all be Eric they have to concern themselves with. Little do they know, the Ro-Berry twins are a great TEAM in the secondary for the Vols. Twin sons of different mothers, they take lanes away, making for a miserable time for the offenses. When they are on the same side of the field, you can almost guarantee the play will go the other way. Teams are just that scared, and rightfully so.
Remember this for when watching them; Den-nis Ro-gan (clap 4 times), Eric Berry (clap 4 times), repeat, repeat, repeat....

Rogan is a very solid corner for us, but lets dont forget the way Art Evans has played so far, I think we have maybe the two best cover corners in the sec!!!!! GO VOLS!!
CoverOrange writes:
If Berry was a freshman this year, not having yet had the last two years of play to impress the nation, who would we be talking the most about on defense? He doesn't lead in tackles. Doesn't lead in interceptions. Yes there are the intangible impacts Berry makes but us armchair warriors with remote controls as our weapon of choice don't always notice those intangibles. Rogan has had some spectacular plays including the smack of the UCLA QB and the falling out bounds interception of a throw away ball. Just wondering.

Hey KNS, Slive has upped the ante on coaches talking bad about officials. Where is your report on this?
"For the foreseeable future there will be no reprimands," Slive added. "We will go right to suspensions and fines."
Looks like Kiffin's challenge forced Slive to respond.
volhome#407234 writes:
Slive has proven himself to be the gutless coward that won't address the root cause, the poor performance of his SEC officials. If the coaches thought they would have gotten satifaction from his office in the first place, they would have gone there. Instead there is a relative understanding, 'You come to us first, last, and only, and we will do our jobs by ignoring the issue'. Slive is more correctly spelled SliMe. Let's get an honest person in that office, please.

It's time to get out there lay a hurting on the USuCk Chickens. My wife graduated from USuCk. I hate Spurrier with a passion. I need this win. For me and my house, this is bigger than either the Lizards or the Elephants. Go Vols! Beat USuCk!!!
USMCVOL4LIF writes:
I think volfan4life said "cover corners" not "players"! 3-4 comes from inconsistent passing game vs.UCLA, UF, & AUB(1st 3 qts). Now Crompton is looking better with a healthy Gerald Jones & Denarius Moore. Don't think many vol fans think its COACHING.

Rogan has always been a play maker!Didn't Rogan play some tailback during his freshman year?I seem to recall him at T.B. before going over to defense. Can anyone verify that or am I dreaming?
