Vols pick team captains

The University of Tennessee football team elected quarterback Jonathan Crompton, running back Montario Hardesty, linebacker Nick Reveiz and safety Eric Berry as team captains.

The team has faith in Crompton and knows what he has gone through to get to this point in his career. I hope this confidence from his team and his coaches manifests itself into a new man this year. I wish him the best.

south carolina looks like the same team they were in 2008.

Good ... never liked the different captains for each game approach.

I guess imitation is the best form of flattery, or the lowest form of creativity. There's only 1 true witch doctor.

wes brown, the senior with all the hard work and and injury battling he's been through, didnt get team captain status?

Not very pretty so far. Opening game jitters I guess.

Two Witch Doctors? Is this what we have to look forward to under ObamaCare?

This kid bleeds orange and has a ton of heart. He's a starter. What did you do for our university? I bet you neither had the nads or the ability to walk on a D-I football team. Do you have any idea how much it takes to do that? How about thinking before you type? Why do our own fans insist on bashing our own players?

I love how people call themselves fans but know nothing about our team. Nick is a great player. Just because he didn't have 4 or 5 stars next to his name means nothing. He was a beast and a leader at Farragut, and he is one of the most intelligent players on our team right now. I'm not making a comparison, but Al Wilson was a 2 star coming out of high school. Guess you would've said WTF when they named him captain too.

VolGraduate writes:

Just don't think NR is that good and I also don't like how he only talks about himself in interviews....but if the players voted whatever

and don't think there were stars in 94

and if UT had the sport I played when I was there I wouldve been on scholarship

No stars back then but Big Al was a high school all American. So who doesn't know their team?

They don't give out Dungeons and Dragons scholarships anywhere.

Why dont we accept the team captains and cheer our VOLS on. These players would not have been named captains if they did not prove something in the spring.

i dont think you know what your talking about. the story line about him speaks louder volumes than any other of the captains. end of story.

Rudy had a lot of heart but i wouldn't want him starting. NRs just not who we need going to shake hands with tebow and spikes before the game in the swamp.

Nick is no Rudy. He's an athlete that was an invited walkon. He can bench 310 pounds 10 times and has maxed out at 455 pounds on the bench. I'd say pound for pound he's probably just as strong as Spikes. He also was a state champion in wrestling.

Ed Orgeron said Reviez reminds him of NFL linebacking great Zach Thomas, who was about Nick's size.

And it's not like he's never been on the field before. He's been a leader on special teams the last two years and saw some action as a back up linebacker last year.

The kid is a player and the rest of the college football world is about to learn.

Well fortunately you aren't making any decisions. 0 Career tackles? He's been on special teams and has had many tackles. Egomaniac? What planet do you live on? You are a first class toolbox. I will never understand how people who profess to be Vol fans sit around on their fat butts and B*tch about our own players and knock them. Way to show your support.

I'm a UT fan not a NR fan...Not agreeing with one position player doesn't make you more or less a fan...It makes you a fan with an opinion. I dislike NR being a captain and a starter the same way many of you disliked Fulmer when he wasn't performing to your standards

I apologize for your parents not raising you to be able to handle differing opinions...and I will be at the gate to check diplomas this year

Fair or not, I guess you can put down Reveiz as much as you please, but do you really think this staff would start him if they thought someone else was better? And isn't it at least possible that the people who see him EVERY DAY in the weight room, on game film, and at practice might have a better idea of what he can do than a casual fan? Sure, I would rather have Al Wilson or Jack Reynolds than Reveiz at MLB, but if Nick is the best we have right now at the position, don't we at least owe him the courtesy of seeing how he does before we decide he is no good at all?

True. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Reveiz was a really good choice. He got to where he is now through HARD WORK, and I'm glad his teammates appreciate that fact.
