Bray not committed yet

Quarterback Tyler Bray has not informed Tennessee that he has committed to the Vols, according to two sources close to the situation.

The 6-foot-6, 200 pounder from Kingsburg High School in California seems certain to commit to Tennessee eventually, possibly as early as Wednesday.

InsideTennessee.com has reported that Bray has de-committed to San Diego State.

At least one recruiting Web site reported that Bray had committed to UT.

He visited Tennessee last weekend.

Bray has committed..... Volquest has an article posted!

CRFVols writes:

If this kid is good, why wouldn't he? I don't know much about him, but I trust our recruiters of course. A good QB would be foolish to not commit here. It's not like we are talent-rich or deep at the QB spot. lol

VOLQUEST.com has him a VOL.....I trust them!

This could be excellent news.

saw bray at the elite11 on espnu. he's a stud. he was second in the mvp voting losing to jake heaps and won the overall accuracy award. we need this guy bad. he is way better than all the other qbs out there in this class imo.

does anyone know why he only has sdst looking at him????

DrWitch say this big news. Bray make great football for Vols. Bones never lie.

It's a done deal. He is a Vol. A guy I work with has in inside source, a top 25 or so booster, which is one of his close friends and...he got a text today from his source at 12:22 pm that said Bray is a Vol.

VolinCalif writes:

He's a Vol. But I think he'd like to watch the Vols in action this week against UCLA. You need to remember that the PAC10 is Off. minded and put lots of points on the board. thats a QB's love nest. The other thing is they aren't to in love with great defense unless it's their team. But for sure he is thinking about Tenn, and I am sure so are a few orthers that have already Commited.

Justin writes:

Volnation, com is all over this one. Bray is ALL VOL!

so who do we believe, hooker or volquest?

This is just pitiful reporting when all you have to do is read the dang internet!!!
Here you go fellow vol fans:

"After months of speculation and debate, Tennessee finally has its quarterback for the 2010 recruiting class. Four-star signal-caller and Kingburg, Calif., native Tyler Bray made things official on Tuesday morning when he de-committed from San Diego State and gave his verbal pledge to Lane Kiffin and the Vols.

"SEC is the big powerhouse for football," Bray said. "Tennessee football is religion. You can't really beat that. It was all fun. It was crazy. I don't think I could pick one highlight (from his weekend visit to the Vols' opener). If I had to pick one it would be running through the 'T.' Seeing coach (Ed) Orgeron getting the team pumped up gave me chills. It was awesome."

"The fans," Bray said. "The people eat, breath, and sleep football at Tennessee. That's the way I am and that's what I want to be around. I don't know how many times that I walked around and people were yelling at me that they needed me. It was nuts."

"It's big," Bray said of becoming a mid-term enrollee. "The biggest thing is getting big enough to play right away and learning the offense. The SEC is all about big hits and I'm at 200 (pounds), but I want to get to 220 by next fall. I'm trying to get that big this fall, but definitely by next fall."

While Bray travelled back to California on Sunday, his father stayed behind to look at the possibility of moving the entire Bray family to Knoxville once Tyler graduates high school.

The entire Bray family was blown away by the weekend in Knoxville and that's a big reason Tyler made a quick decision once he arrived back in the Golden State.

"My parents were in shock," Bray said. "Football in California is a lot different. Football isn't a religion out here. It's huge down there. They could not believe how things were there. They loved it."

Bray was recruited by Tennessee commitment Markeith Ambles over the past few weeks and now Bray says he'll join Ambles on the recruiting trail.

"Whatever I can do to help," Bray said. "That's what I'm going to do."

Thanks KNS

Great news! No knock on Stephens and Lamaison but this is the guy we need in the long run. It would be great to snag Cam Newton too!!!!!!!

C'mon, Dave. Be a reporter for cryin' out loud. Talk to his coach. Basilio did and has confirmed the commitment. ESPN is confirming it too

Fossilfiction writes:

Yes Sir. It is starting out to be a really great year. Now some of the " We need a QB, Why can't we sign a QB," fans will shut up with that mess. I feel like that is all I heard when I came on here.
We will more than likely sign another QB before the season is over. I don't know who but I believe that Kiffin will want to load up at the skill positions. If I am Bray and I see what Crompton did last year compared to his 5 TD's in one game then I would sign too! Same will go for alot of prospects who will see improvement and that will let them know that we can coach them up. I would love to get Fulmer's take on the game!

Well it sounds good and I would love to get a QB with his size and caliber, but I want to know for a definite as I'm sure all Vol fans do. However, all things point to UT! GBO!!!

I hope this seals it for you:

"And when Bray finally told the Volunteer staff that he would be spending the next four or five years with them, they were naturally pretty pleased.

"(Kiffin) was excited," Bray said. "They were all excited. Coach (Ed) Orgeron, coach (David) Reaves, they were all pumped, and so am I."

THIS WAS FROM BRAY HIMSELF

Do all visitors get to run through the T? In one of posts above Bray comments on running through the T. TN had to report a secondary violation for simulating a game day experience to recruits this summer. Is running through the T legal in the NCAA minds when it comes to recruiting? They are so stupid when it comes to everything else.

Why do I continue to pay KNS for this service? ...so that I can read the constant typos/butchering of the Queen's English, John Adam's negative diatribe, or yesterday's news? Please tell me.

Much like the old football regime, you (KNS) are becoming irrelevant.

I think that title goes to Ambles as he is a top wideout and an all-out recruiter for Vols football. It seems to me that he has the ear of every top player in the nation to at least listen...and they are listening a lot!!!

Great news, now sign some OL. I was at Vol walk and game, WOW. I would have signed if Kiffin wanted me, but I guess he is not looking for 50 yr old fat guys. He might have used me to break the wedge instead of Eric Berry though. That was a little scary. LK called a great game, very few mental mistakes, team looked well coached. Now lets see it against tougher competition. Put a whoopin on UCLA, then step it up again for FL.

Very excited about Bray. I wonder if this will help sway Prater...hmmm. He could have an immediate impact here at Tennessee as a true Frosh. Kiffin would surely play a guy of his caliber as a Frosh. I would think that USC would be extremly deep at reciever, and he may not play for a year or maybe even two. Maybe he doesnt care though. any thoughts?

FTR,I have put Scroggins to rest. I dont ever want him to wear orange. He strung us out way too long and potentially cost us landing a QB at all this year and other recruits. Have fun riding the pine Mr. Scroggins.

Bugman this kid is 4 star QB who is moving up the ranks fast. I know you are still hung up on Heaps going to BYU but Heaps is gone. I do not put too much credit into your comments and analysis since you think that Bruce Pearl should have been fired this last year. Your post has always been negative, ignorant, and makes us all feel a dumber for reading them.

I believe that Bray will be a good fit. He seems solid and the height is a huge plus. He may not be your beloved Heaps but he is a quality player...

"But Bray, according to the camp counselors, might have been the most impressive among any of the three California quarterbacks at the Elite 11 camp. In fact, the 6-6, 190-pounder won the Golden Gun Accuracy Challenge. He scored 18 points in each of his workouts on Tuesday and Wednesday, displaying a phenomenal touch on his deep balls. Bray's total on Tuesday was surpassed by only two other quarterbacks (Cody Hawkins & Colt McCoy) and on Wednesday no one scored higher, including Carson Palmer and Mark Sanchez."

since the season started and Bray added 20 lbs, he has moved up from 14th rated pro-style QB to 6th... behind 1. Jake Heaps, 2. Philip Sims, 3. Jesse Scroggins, 4. Blake Bell, 5. Connor Wood. He has the same "rivals rating" as all of those guys, and the seventh ranked guy (Paul Jones).

plus, Bray was an Elite 11 quarterback... while that isn't a guarantee of success, those who do well in this camp have gone on to be tremendous quarterbacks. Check out the list... http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/...

Several of those guys were number one picks in the NFL draft.
