Vols pick up a third commitment

Tennessee picked up its third commitment of the weekend Sunday when receiver Demarco Cobbs from Tulsa, Okla., pledged to play for the Vols.

UT also got commitments Sunday from defensive ends Corey Miller and Brandon Willis of Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C.

Cobbs is a 6-foot-1, 198-pounder who is rated by Rivals.com as the No. 1 receiver in Oklahoma.

Good get and impressive offer list. He is 5 star by Scout. Though he had a terrible summer at camps.

This is great news for our rebuilding project. I really like that we have Bray and I bet we can land one more quality guy at QB before the recruiting season is over. Landing some of these receivers is a big big boost in bringing in the QBs. The only real concern I have is about the OL. What's the latest in recruiting some of those big uglies? Are we in good with any of them so far?

Boy, I'm more excited about watching our recruiting efforts than watching the football games!

Let's be real. Tennessee is obviously rebuilding and starting with a whole new regime. It really doesn't matter if we go 9-3 or 6-6 or 4-8 this year. What does matter is Kiffin is righting the ship and in a couple years we will have a really good football team. Just stay the course and we will be fine.

All those who want to play as true freshmen. Ask Brown, Oku, etc....Kiffin WILL play them. And eventually they will win...a lot.

It's amazing how idiots like you forget how bad Alabama was during Satan's first season. Seems that he has had a few commits stick it out, huh? Just get your ankles ready so you can jump back on that bandwagon when we start winning.

mbible1utk#324980 writes:

This makes a crappy Saturday a LOT better... 2 5 star commits, and a 4 star.

Here's to hoping UCLA was our proverbial "game we lose that we shouldn't" that every first year coach has... and with that comes one game that we shouldn't win that we do. Who knows, maybe it's Florida, maybe it's Bama... We definitely didn't look good enough to beat either team Saturday, but let's see how the team responds.

I have read all of the "gloom and doom" posts and I have a few observations.
*The defense is exceptional (fix the missed tackles and getting juked).
They produced the slobberknocker and snotbubble effect and I expect the same will be done to UF.
*The offense has the ability to spread the field when the middle is stacked. However, I do not know why we did not try. I liked some of the gambles Kiffen took even if they did not pay off. I agree that our O line should have been able to produce on short yardage.
*This coaching staff has generated more excitement for UT football than I have seen in years. Fulmer was good for his time but this is a new era. These guys are in their first year and the fans want "microwave" results on a "crockpot" schedule. Give them time!!!
*The bloggers on this site seem to enjoy stewing in their own depression. Guess What? This fan is still drinking the Orange Kool Aid with a Rocky Top chaser. In fact, I am looking forward to the UT defense knocking a few teeth out of the Patron Saint of Florida.
Therefore, I will not knock your pity party and you shall knock my blind entusiasim.

I think we have one just as good as those two from OK in G Jones. Unfortunately his talent has been wasted for 2 years because a QB cannot get him the ball.

Why do you comment on all these articles so much? You add literally nothing of value. I understand things are fun when you're team is dominating, but what do you get out of kicking someone when they're down? If you honestly enjoy it as much as your posting frequency shows then its a big part of your life and who am I to take away a large part of someone's happiness. Just know it won't last forever and we all know how much you'll post then

probably all of them. i'd certainly rather go to a program where i'd get a decent shot at playing and gaining early experience (tennessee) than a program where i'd most likely be on the pine for two years (florida). keep talking, this raw talent is loving it! and don't wine when you're recruits start decommitting and coming here so they can play for a coach who will actually let them play i.e. nukeese richardson and marsalis teague.

Guys the season is not over. One loss? Come on. I said at the beginning we would lose one game we shouldn't. I still believe we will beat Alabubba (they struggled against Florida International? yesterday) You say it was 40-17. Well it was 21-17 going into the fourth. And in the second, FIU was ahead 14-13. We will beat Ole Miss and we will give Florida all it can handle. I said 9-3 at worst this year. These young kids needed a lesson and they got it yesterday. Here's hoping that Kiffin will see that Stephens needs to be our QB and we will be fine.

love your attitude. i'm thinking 7-5 but i would love 9-3. we played well saturday against a good D. except for crompton. that was the difference. i think we play florida and lose with crompton. then stephens comes in and manages well for the rest of the season. kiffin doesn't want to kill stephens' confidence too against a great florida D.

Amen Banker! Rebuilding a program can't be done with one recruiting class! Give this staff time and there is no telling where this program can go.

You are full of it! You pretend UCLA is not a quality program. Maybe you can't read so I won't say to look up the records. Just have someone read to you. Texas didn't have it too easy against that same WY team that beat us last year. Nor did LSU against Wa. and the list goes on. The young Vols needed to be shown the hard facts of life that the Coaching staff has being trying to tell them about for a year. The Vol staff did their job but so has the UCLA staff. Our Vols are going to be very good, in part from the very lesson they learned Sat.on the fielf of play. Don't look for this team to roll over and play dead like last year. It isn't going to happen. Vol Fans will support the coaches and team because they know the effort is being made to be great again. The BS artist that want to play down any school and their fan base are the true A holes that need to learn the facts of life.
PS the Vols will still finish 7-5 or better. Both Fl and Bama will lose a game and Fl will not repeat as NC. Bank it!

Wonder if the D will smack Tebow around like they did UCLA's Prince.....and BTW Prince is out for 4 weeks with a broken jaw that he got in the 4th qauter when he sacked for the safety!

Wouldnt it be nice for McCoy or one of our d-ends to get a shot on Tebow a knock him out of the game at the least and show everyone in the country he aint Stupidman!
