Alcoa senior defensive lineman/tight end Tyler Robinson will take an unofficial visit Saturday to the University of Kentucky for the Wildcats’ game with rival Louisville.
Kentucky offered Robinson in late April and has already established a small pipeline into Alcoa thanks to quarterbacks coach Randy Sanders, a former Tennessee offensive coordinator. Kentucky sophomore Randall Cobb and junior Kyrus Lanxter — both starting receivers — played at Alcoa.
Robinson said he’ll get to chat with his former teammates in the locker room following the game. He doesn’t expect Cobb, Lanxter or coaches to coax him into committing.
“Coach Sanders jokes about it all the time,” said Robinson, a Mr. Football winner last season. “‘Are you going to commit today? You going to commit today?’ Every time we talk. I’m like, ‘I don’t know. We’ll see.’
“They’re not going to pressure me to do anything.”
Robinson has conferred with Cobb for advice during the recruiting process. The two are good friends and talk about once per week.
“He’s taught me a lot,” said Robinson. “He’s told me to do whatever I want to do and not to listen to anyone else, that it’s my choice and to do what feels right.”
Robinson also holds offers from Virginia Tech, Middle Tennessee State and Tennessee State.
Robinson said he might attend a game at MTSU and at North Carolina. He added he’s getting closer to his recruitment’s end.
Said Robinson: “I’m pretty sure it (a decision) will come in the near couple of weeks, I’d say.”

Get over Boyd already, we dont have him. He has bad knees and he will not even play this year. We have Bray coming in next year and Im sure this staff will pull another good QB. We have only lost 1 game this year and we will probably get destroied this saturday too. But what did you expect with the product that we put on the field last year. Trust in Kiffin, it will payoff.

Tahj Boyd. I'm sure the true freshman dual-threat with bad knees was going to take JCs starting job. Time will tell if he's pro-possible or just pro-'style'. Remember, his "stars" were based on that dual-threat ability. Fulmer was after him for the Clawfense, so he obviously was wanted for his legs. CLK is apparently not that interested in QB legs.
