Steve Spurrier won a Heisman Trophy as a Florida quarterback. He coached a Heisman winner in Florida's Danny Wuerffel.
But in all his years of playing and coaching, Spurrier has never seen a quarterback quite like Tim Tebow.
"He's a different quarterback, that's for sure,'' Spurrier said of Tebow, a Heisman winner as a sophomore. "He's built like a linebacker or a fullback, but he is an excellent passer and excellent runner with the ball and he's a tremendous leader.''

Him wearing Panties redefines tough!! LOL
What a joke!
jmr68ut writes:
Wonder if the pros can use him?? Hum
TDTN writes:
Of course they can. Then NFL always needs players like tebow. Waterboys, towel boys, equipment managers,.....
If he has any hope at all of playing next year he better line up at tight end and prove he can block and catch.
I mean just look at vince young and how successful he has been so far.

Game will be won or lost in the trenches!!! GO BIG ORANGE
CRFVols writes:
I just don't see him as a great passer. You could even see how big the difference was between the back-up Brantley throwing the ball and Tebow. Brantley had a much faster and tighter spiral. Plus, Tebow won't lower his shoulder and hit that much in the NFL or he'll only last a couple seasons.
TommyJack writes:
I think he's a great player. I also think I'm SICK of reading about him.
munchie writes:
Ditto--and SO SICK of seeing him! Good college player, but I can't wait 'til he goes away to sit on some pro team's bench!!! And we never have to hear about Jesus Tebow again!!!!!!!!!!!

Dangerously fast recievers will always make your qb look good, once again tebow is waaaayyyyyyy OVERATED. he can run and is big, that is true but he is not this quarterback that every one makes him out to be. everyone has as bad game sometime, it is enevitable... It is only a matter of time.. He looks like panzi too. I think Florida is counting the apples in the basket before they been picked, I say look for a surprising stand by the vol defense, the Golden question is can the offence step up, we will see.

Joe Biddle redefines sucks. Way to go Joe. Keep up the edgy, creative articles.
UrbanStopCallingMe writes:
Biddle has been kissing Florida's butt for as long as I can remember. Nashville has the Titans, the Predators, and Vanderbilt. Surely he can find something to write about that the Nashville area fans would be interested in. After all the news paper he writes for is called "The Tennessean".
UrbanStopCallingMe writes:
He'll make a nice 2nd or 3rd string tight end.
volsfannsc writes:
I was talking to a friend of mine who helps organize NFL combines and was told Tebow would draft high, but not as a QB. Due to his knowledge of passing schemes, and his size, look for Tebow to be drafted and work as a TE. There's no doubt Tebow is an excellent collge player. He's even an excellent college QB. Appears to be a great guy (I'm a little concerned about that 'kiss' on the sideline last year and his closeness to Meyer)and he gets an attaboy for his mission trips. Good for him. Now can we talk about someone else in college football? Lobster makes for a great dinner- but not seven days a week!
GahLee writes:
Pictures are worth a 1,000 words, this one is worth one, GAY,all his mannerisms suggest GAY, how many straight guys do you see that smile, all the ime.
CRFVols writes:
Yea, espn already broke that story. Thanks though. If you read the story, they will select him for his super-star status in the state of florida/cuba/haiti. Also because he grew up around Jacksonville. That would be because they can't sell season tickets down there, so they need some excitement. Not because of his tight spiral. lol
GahLee writes:
time?
GahLee writes:
Tebow will never make it as a pro, he throws lame ducks, long throwing motion, works in that spread offense, no chance he is even a good player in the NFL.
ChrisM30TN writes:
There are great college QB's and most of them turn out to be just good enough or average at best NFL QB's. (Rick Mirer, Andre Ware, Dave Klingler, Michael Vick, Alex Smith, Vince Young, Vinny Testeverde, Doug Flutie, any QB that played for Florida in the 90's). Then there are good college QB's that turn out to be great NFL QB's (Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Eli Manning, even Peyton Manning *only because he never won an NCAA national championship or was able to beat Florida*) If Teabow wins another NC this year he had better cherish and remember it well, because once he is in the NFL, unless the guy in front of him wins the Superbowl for his team, Teabow will never see one. Once he is gone Florida will not see another one for a while either.
GO VOLS!!!!
CRFVols writes:
Good point naming great college QBs that never made it in the NFL...but are you a Vol fan?? You left out two important ones...Heath Shuler and Tee Martin!
VolunteerLifer writes:
I don't know what pantiesfortebow's point is. But here's my point:
F*** the florida gators.

Your not on a Florida site dummy.
UrbanStopCallingMe writes:
Bone head decisions like that one is exactly why Jacksonville can't sell out home games.
GahLee writes:
Gay or not he can play st the college level, I guess so man, lol, I think without a doubt that dude is gay, maybe him and Briscoe can hook up. eww.
mlynn1 writes:
Biddle laughted and giggled all afternoon Monday talking about Crompton and Kiffin and praising the gators. He is a fence rider and is always on the bandwagon of whoever is good at the moment. He is also a Spurrier homer. I get so sick of hearing him I turn off the radio.
ChrisM30TN writes:
I wanted to put Tee Martin and Heath Shuler, but thought twice about it. Don't get me wrong, I think we would not have won the NC without Tee. That is the one area I do not agree with CLK, I think in the college ranks it can make a 2-3 wins a season difference to have a mobile QB. I would recruit the best passing QB, that can happen to run also, but would only want to run as the last option. Look at how dominant Vince Young was in college, and what he did to USC in the NC game. Heath Shuler was a very athletic QB, but at that time Alabama had our number and there was no East/West division or I think we could have beat them in a second game and maybe played for a NC that year.
CRFVols writes:
I agree completely. Well said. And you're right, mobile quarterbacks who are very talented athletes can make a difference, although D coordinators are getting more used to it....but speed is a killer. A QB who can just roll out very well and keep a play alive like big ben does soo often is nice too.
GahLee writes:
I'm sick of all these complimentary stories about Florida, Meyer, and Tebow.
It's absurd, every other story is praising these c@cksuckers, I for one am sick of it.
I'm usually even keeled, and don't lash out but enough is enough.
I went to a Florida message board, and ask a few serious questions, got a few serious answers.
Most of the fans on there where much smarter than the trolls that invade this site, but at some point they started their usual hate-filled bashing.
Out of nowhere, thought I was doing a good job in holding in my hate, thought it was just going to be talking football.
Might as well get on a Gator site, every other story on here is a Gator story.
I'm going to start blasting every Florida fan that gets on here and let him know he is not welcome.
CRFVols writes:
Ok Deltadildo....what does this post have to do with anything? Who cares?
And "we get to take some frustration out on you people? .......since when do you don a helmet and pads for UF on saturday?
UrbanStopCallingMe writes:
The jump pass isn't gonna work in the NFL. Everybody has figured that out but you and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
ChrisM30TN writes:
Other than the obvious of me wanting my team to win, I'd love for the VOLS to beat the gay-turds; just so we would not have to read, see, or deal with your's and everyother florida fans stupidity on this site for atleast another year.
GO VOLS!!!!!
UrbanStopCallingMe writes:
I said NFL you dolt, try and read before you open that richard sucker of yours.
richvol writes:
Most of these comments sound like envy and jealousy. Tebow is one of the top three QB's I have seen play in the SEC in over 50 years of watching...Archie and Peyton are the other two. Wuerffel could be the forth.
Give credit where it's due. It's special to have a player of Tebow's talent in the league as one like him rarely comes along. I have no doubt he will make a great NFL QB as well.
marinevol writes:
Is the sports media trying to make everybody hate this guy with this blatant over-saturation? When this guy falls on his face--and it will happen, it happens to everyone--millions of people will be cheering hysterically. I don't remember seeing anyone set up to fail the way the sports media het set this guy up. One more thing: Eric Berry, Rico McCoy please, be the ones to make the world cheer and take this guy down.
GahLee writes:
Maybe Carl Moore will help little Timmy win some games, you know that same Carl Moore that Urban broke several NCAA rules to get.
Question of the day, who is dirtier?
Saban or Meyer?
GahLee writes:
Hilarious, the media doesn't give FB much attention, not since Mike Alstott anyway.
Peyton has won 3 NFL M.V.P. awards, a Super Bowl, and when it is all over, will own virtually every major passing record there is.
Tebow, will be lucky to stay on an NFL roster.
GahLee writes:
Tebow is not even close to being a great QB, he play in a system that makes him look good, everyone wants to talk about how great of a passer he is, he throws lame ducks on a constant basis.
Everyone wants to talk about his running ability, nothing more than a glorified fullback, how many of his TD runs were within 3 yards?
I would guess 95% of them, he is the most over-rated player to ever play college football.
GahLee writes:
He can play QB in the NFL after all, the scout team is always hiring.
With teams starting to run a "wildcat" formation, I'm 100% sure he can be a scout team all-star.
He may win more Super Bowls than Peyton on Madden, that's as far as him winning Super Bowls goes.
givehim6 writes:
Not sure if he was a junior or senior in high school if Kiffin would go after him, why? T-bone is the kind of player you have to build your offence around him. Kiffin want a pro style offence, T-bone is definitely not a drop back passer. His only hope in the pros's is for a team desperate enough to draft him and change there offence around to a wild cat offence, and there are several teams doing that now, by next year some NFL DC will figure out how to defend it.
GahLee writes:
Eric won't lay down, he is a true talent and really plays with passion, not that fake hustle poop, that fake leader poop, I hope Eric ends his season.
Vol_in_Mich writes:
I don't care what any of you say, Timmy is fun & exciting to watch. He is far from the most over rated player & am glad this is the last time we face him. But I am sick & tired of hearing about him. Give it a break.
GO VOLS !!!
GahLee writes:
IF, well he doesn't, that is a 2 way street, IF Peyton played for Florida they would love him too, he plays for our rival, so save us the whole IF he played for us routine.

Says a lot that you would feel ANY frustration associated with little ol' us! Is that because we don't feel compelled to worship at the "mighty Gator" shrine? You KNOW that RIGHT NOW is as big an advantage as you will EVER have over us and THAT is what frustrates you.
RomanRoomRegular writes:
Tebow is half horse, half alligator and a little bit touched with snapping turtle for sure.
I first heard that expression on Walt Disney when Geo. Russell (Buddy Ebsen) was describing Davy Crockett (Fess Parker) to someone.
And it sure fits Tim Tebow. He's a good guy and is a credit to the game.
However...GO BIG ORANGE!
heisthelord367 writes:
hands down the best qb to ever play the game of college football is NOT Tim Tebow or Peyton Manning, but Danny Wuerfful....Tebow has 70+ TD passes, Manning 101, ...Wuerfful had 155! Just being objective! Love the Vols all the way! Also, Danny has one of the hardest last names to spell of QB's...had to look that one up!

CRFVols writes:
Good point....but those were two diff offenses with Peyton and Danny. UF aired it out all the time with the Spurrier "fun and gun"....UT was more of a running team than UF. The one game where CPF really let Peyton air it out was that KY game where he set those records...so imagine if UT had aired it out as much as UF.

That is a Quarterback people! i am also tired of hearing about him, but deep within, i long for a person/quarterback like him fot the vols. that being said, CLK is making all the right steps in transforming out team into one of the most versatile teams in college football. let's support his every move, and chear for our boys in the swamp saturday!
RollTideJoe writes:
You folks complain about other team's fans being on your site, but all you do is bash them especially Meyer and Saban. You talk about "what gets old". Here's what gets old, your jealousy of the two best coaches in the conference and among the top throughout the nation.
