I am afraid NAME THAT SCORE will be UF's mantra this week. Our D will quickly be worn out and our banged up O -line + Cromp in the Swamp will be of no use to the D. Three and out way too many times to give the D a rest..

I was at the 2001 game as a UT fan. One of my all time favourites. The UF fans were fun, hospitable and well behaved. There are jerks at every school. The only difference is which whiskey they are drinkning.

Started out 28.5 underdogs, and went up to 29.5 points underdogs. Really, no one giving the Vols a chance. Just play hard, and get Berry returning punts and kicks. If they score as much as everybody is saying they will, then Berry should get a few returns. Lets see what he can do. Go Vols.

Does all media hate Tennessee? Other great match-ups we've been in have been ignored, but this one, which really isn't supposed to be a great match-up is being talked about everywhere because our coach made a couple comments.

I know ESPN hates us, but didn't know others did too. lol I remember a year or two ago when ESPN was talking about the BCS system, they put up a list of all the BCS championship winners and they didn't even include UT....the FIRST BCS winners. So I guess we're underdogs in more than one way. lol

Whatever, let's rattle their bodies so they'll never forget us and dread playing us again. Go BIG ORANGE!

I still say CARRY THE FIGHT!

Classy post. I'll be there, but only have to travel up from Polk County so can't complain, although even a 30 second trip on I-4 is nerve-racking. Good point on the Gator fans though, yall have some low lifes, but every school does for sure. I don't mind the students and their passion, that's a good thing, I can't stand the ACR's who act like it's life or death and they've never even been on campus for anything other than a football game lolol. Should be a competetive (hopefully), well played game where the better team will most probably win.

Holding on to the ball will be HUGE. If we don't turn it over I think this will be a very close game. We really have nothing to lose. We are a 29 point underdog so we are supposed to lose and lose big. Our defense will keep us in the game but we must hold on to the ball and not give them too many short fields to score.

I highly agree. Ball security will be key...we need to pound the rock and give our D plenty of rest. If we do that and create some turnovers ourselves it should be pretty close. We've got to be creative with our running plays though. I also say we throw in several trick plays...they have great defensive experience, but I think we could fool them and get at least one TD with some trickeration. We'll see.....I'm ready for some dang football!!!

If our guys play hard and don't turn the ball over, we'll get some respect back. Ive said it a 100 times..Fumbles on the opening drive have killed us in this series..We get behind early and then our whole offensive game plan gets altered because we go down 10 to 0 before we even get a first down..Iam hoping your right about pounding the ball but unfortunately they will be stacking the box and playing run first..A little success throwing on first down would surely help!!

They will stack the box, and that's why I say we have to be creative with our running attack and keep fresh legs in there. Rotate the backs to pound it, plus it will make them compete a little bit to see who's the best a running against their D.

Does anyone agree that UT and UF along with Bama are the teams that made the SEC what it is today? I mean, the other teams HAD to get better to keep up with us, especially UGA. Just my opinion.

Six, the media would LOVE it if Tennessee beat Florida. What a story -- the sports story of the year: the new kid on the block taunts the nastiest bully in town, makes a bunch of outlandish claims, and then makes them stick. A 29 point dog beats No. 1, the defending national champion -- that would be huge. Front page. It would lead Sports Center for a day and a half.

You guys all seem to think "the media" is like you .. a bunch of fans. "The media" could care less who wins most games -- they are there to set up the game and cover it. The Tennessee-Florida story was written during Kiffin's first days on the job when he made light of the Urban Legend, talked about singing "Rocky Top" all night long and how Meyer cheated. He said those things and they won't go away until this game is over.

I believe in miracles, and this would be a huge one, almost biblical. But, as they say, that is why they play the games. To add one more cliche, the ball ain't round. It bounces in strange ways. Maybe it will bounce our way a few extra times on Saturday.

And that ridiculous spread should only make us more focused and determined. A Tennessee football team should not be a 30 point underdog to ANYONE. That's why the game is played on the field and not on opinions and paper. I hope our players are much more confident and ready to crack jaws than some posting here. Get your wives/girlfriends off the computer. I think they're posting for you.

it's just the football cycle, like a pendulum. it swings towards success, but eventually swings back towards downturn. we're in the downturn stage right now, people can blame whoever they want. this wasn't fulmer's fault, this isn't crompton's fault, kiffin's, or anyone else's. this stuff just happens. it happens to every program at some point or another. but these are the times that make it all the sweeter when you do start winning again. so ignore all the haters, fairweather fans, and bandwaggon jumpers, because they aren't true fans, and they'll never know the joy of being a true fan, of having the pendulum finally swing back towards success and just how good it feels when it does. we're on our way back, just be patient vol nation. and to all banwaggon jumpers, haters, fair weather fans, etc. you suck!

By the end of the game Grossmans pants were covered in grass stains. Clawsen was as cool as a cucumber and walked of the field clean as a whistle. It was Spurriers last year and TN beat some big odds that year. It can be done. I am not sayin that it is probable this year but it is possible, particularly because of the unknown.

Good post. Think Miami, Nebraska, Florida State. For that matter, Michigan, Notre Dame and the list could go on and on. Everyone wants to assign blame, but that's pointless. Hope we have a winning record this season, that would be a start. The UCLA doesn't help but the season still very young. Very few teams can overcome 6 turnovers and still win, and we kept it very close and came up 1/2 yard short of winning. Other than JC's obvious mistakes, seems like Scott and Sullins didn't play well either. Somehow, we have to complete passes to keep those safeties and linebackers from shutting us down completely. Honestly JC, many of the passes you complete are not accurate. I know God gave you more talent than that. Thread the ball and get rid of it in 3 seconds.

Thanks for the Civility of your post. MY two trips to the Swamp have always been as the guest of Friends/Florida Fans with season tickets. So I have never sat in the Visitors Section, Vols are 1-1 on my trips to the Swamp and Florida Fans were just great Rowdy College fans on both trips.

You do make an outstanding point. Putting the visiting teams section next to any Student section, anywhere is a recipe for disaster.

Maybe the NCAA/SEC needs to step and actually issue a rule that prohibits the placing of a Student Section next to a Visitors Section.

I don't think the media want Kiffin to fail so much as they love the fact that he is interesting. Their stories are written for them in the simplistic way they prefer. When UT starts to win, then that will be the story. Unless of course, Kiffin ALSO doesn't shoot his mouth off anymore; then they will complain about why he is isn't interesting anymore. After that, the only reason they will write about us is if, you know, we are competing regularly for championships with the big boys!

It wasn't that long ago that the SEC forced UF to move the student section from behind the visiting bench, not because of the noise and vulgarity but because of the constant barrage of liquor bottles and cups of, uh, various liquids. Might not take too many incidents with visiting fans to move them out of the stadium.

Well, given that Fowler's "trailer-trash" remark goes back WAY further than Kiffin, it can't really be said that Kiffin caused the media's lack of respect for UT. The fact is that we had become all but irrelevant nationally for several years before Kiffin. Now I agree that the national hook right now is "How bad will the great Urban Meyer and the mighty Gators run it up against the brash Kiffin kid?" Will they TRY to run it up? Sure, that's just the kind of guy Meyer is; this is just his latest excuse, and right now the media is colluding with him in it. CAN they run it up? Well, that IS the question, isn't it? THAT we will all see.

Two things: 1) after all the smack-talk, what do you mean by "running it up" after something of a history of running it up before Kiffin came along--50, 70, 100?--the current record against us I think is 39; 2) what if you get key guys hurt late in a beat-down? I'm not saying the Vols OUGHT to go head-hunting then, but I AM saying EVERYBODY has a LITTLE pride, and I can see a point where somebody might snap. I would hate to see it for a LOT of reasons, but if the Gators get a little too happy with themselves for trying to run it up, they will have sort of brought it on themselves if something untoward happens.
