Tennesse defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin talks to cornerback Eric Berry (14) on Sept. 19, 2009 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.

— I bet Netflix wishes it was the sole distributor of the video from the Tennessee-Florida game.

For a number of football coaches, this is must-see TV. It provides a blueprint for how to defense the Gators' lethal spread-option offense.

Note, please, this video is different from the CBS telecast of the game Saturday. It is the so-called "coaches' tape," and it shows all 22 players on every snap of the ball, minus any jibber-jabber by TV commentators.

Monte Kiffin, whose reputation as a defensive genius was built on 26 years in the NFL, authored Tennessee's scheme. And since football coaches are notorious copycats, look for Kiffin's X's and O's to be duplicated by other teams that face the Gators.

Monte just ended this 'fad offense.'

All SEC Coaches have a copy by now. Not sure FLA goes undefeated this year now as they also don't have the receivers they had last year and it showed in the TENN game but they seem to find a way to win.

RoadTrip writes:

People get all caught up with mystique and intrigue. If Gerald Williams, Art Evans and a couple of outside LBs had played their assignments consistently, Florida doesn't make half the first downs they did. Don't know if it would have changed the results, but it would have helped.

On offense it is all about the QB first, then about the receivers. The offense lost the game, not the defense.

Monte Kiffin deserves a raise...Today

Game over, we lost. Everyone knows we have a great defense, can we please move on? We play Ohio in three days and KNS has not said one thing about them.
GO VOLS!!!

The single wing, the T, the wishbone, the power I, the veer, all dead. The spread is beginning to run a fever. Defenses always catch up. Monte has this thing figured out and when the next recruiting classes are on campus he will have the tools to shut it down. Plus UF will never have another Tebow who is truly a great player in that offense. See ya' gators.

John Chavis would be the coach that did just as good of a job of shutting down the Gators offense last year, when the Gators had more weapons. Oh well, guess the Vol fans gotta believe in something when they are staring down at another .500 season on the way :)

A 500 season isn`t surprising.New players.New coaches.Just wait. The Vols are on the way back. And,by the way,I haven`t seen C.M.K.give up a third and twenty-three the way Chavis so often did.A first down was almost automatic for the Vols` opponent,no matter how many yards they needed on third and whatever. You won`t see this happening too many times now.

Be careful Vol_in_Mich The Hounddog posted all week before the UCLA game for our fans on here to "focus on beating UCLA". Everyone was talking about FL and other SEC games.

The Hounddog posted it many times only to be ridiculed by MAWMAWVOL and others for "sad" posting. YOU are right on target...forget Florida and let's focus on OHIO or we are going to end up with an "L"

Let's focus on OHIO. Let's play football. Hounddog.

Monte Kiffin is great we know, we still play Ohio on Saturday last I checked. We lost the florida game. KNS needs to observe Tennessee's 24 hour rule..ask Crompton about it.

VolunteerLifer writes:

What I like most about what Monte has done is that he is giving the rest of the SEC a blueprint in how to defend florida in ways that will work EARLY IN THE SEASON, increasing the probability that florida will get beat by others during the SEC season. That way, and hopefully, florida will achieve the level it most deserves.

After all, you can't spell Konica Minolta Gator Bowl without a gator.

Have to disagree with your claim about the UCLA game. Just like the Florida game, the defense did their job. You can't throw 4 and 3 interceptions respectively and expect to win either game. If CLK can somehow figure out even the remotest semblance of a passing game...watch out. I'll take our running game and defense over anybody in the league.

No doubt, Monte is one of the best ever, if not the best ever defensive coordinator in the business. One thing to remember though, a coach is only as good as his players execute. We've got a great bunch on defense and for the most part, they execute to plan. Good job coach and great job "D"!

Go Vols...beat Ohio!

LSU can have the mustang package. After watching Auburn and Arkansas last Saturday, their offenses will have a hay day on Chavis and that LSU defense.

I love this comment!!! Go Vols!!!

College football is stocked with plenty of great defensive minds. Longtime Florida State defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews has proved his worth. Tom Bradley is a strategic genius at Penn State. Nick Saban's fingerprints are all over Alabama's defense.

But Monte Kiffin is a cut above. And it shows.

Attention all SEC Defensive Coordinators here is Monte's blueprint on how to beat the UF spread. Yes you to can hold Tim Tebow to 115 yards passing or less and yes you to can cause him to run 24 times in one game. The end is near Gator fans!!!

With all due respect Hounddog...who the fans "concentrate" on will have absolutely zero to do with the outcome of this game. We have great coaches, they will make sure there is no Florida hangover. The constant UF/UT articles are getting a little old, but I think the media is the only one still focusing on Florida. Our team will be fine.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous articles written. A blue print to shut down the Gators? lol! Lets see...

1. Name me another defense in the SEC other than Alabama that UF will face this year better than Tennessee's talent wise?

2. Name me another team in the SEC with a player equally as talented or better than Eric Berry?

3. With that great defensive plan, Florida scored on 5 of 8 of their possessions. #9 possession was a kneel down.

4. Florida was 2 yards away from scoring their 30th point.

5. Florida gained over 200 yards rushing with that great scheme.

This is no different than what was said last year after Florida played Miami. Miami held Florida to 26 points and was said to have the "blue print" to stop them. lol! Sorry but if nearly giving up 30 points is a blue print to beat Florida...go right ahead and run that defense with less talented players than what UT fields. Because given UFs talent on defense, if UF gets 30 or more points every week, their chances of winning each of those games are pretty good.
