Good points.

As far as Lane being ousted, all he needs to show the AD is the Wyoming game film.

Job security.

I'm really tired of the "fans" talking about the qb "problems" when you have inept play at the reciever positions. A qb is only as good as the talent around him. If I remember correctly there were about 7 dropped passes by the recievers. I'm talking passes that were in the numbers. Why is nobody talking about that? Oh, because you guys screaming about the qb are such football experts (note sarcasim) you don't see the inept play around him. No wonder we didn't get a qb to sign with us last year. Oh, I forgot about the one that committed then backed out because of all the booing of the qb. The fumble was a bad play, yes, but it appeared to me that he was just trying to make a play. He can't win here. That's for sure.

hard to judge even then, this team was so devoid of talent that it will take several classes to recoup. Also very few signees turn into impact freshmen year 1 so it will take a while.

caverunner writes:

anyone that thinks, or thought that this was going to be a banner year for UT really didn't pay attention to everything that was going on. It's going to take them a couple of years, perhaps 3 to get back to the form they use to be in. All we can do until then is support CLK and his staff, and especially the players. ALL the players.

Marc, I always thought you were a little smarter than average. Being a fellow Chattanoogan, I now know why.
Like I said before, as bad as our QB plays, the lack of depth & the mistakes this team makes, we are only a few plays away from 3-1 or 4-0. Considering what they have to work with, I think Kiff & Co. are doing an outstanding job.
The future's so bright I gotta wear shades!

Question.

When will it become OK to start bashing Kiffin? I want to lay low until then. There has to be a benchmark where it becomes OK and your fanhood doesn't come into question.

Is it when he starts gaining weight? Inquiring minds want to know.

Actually thats a good question although I dont care for the Kiffin bashing, nor did I care for the Fulmer bashing.

Lets see...if you win a championship within five years you have to back off for a while. If you win a nc you have to give him a pass for...4 years?

So I guess you have to give coach Kiffin 5 years to get a championship before you can start bashing him.

I know its a little off topic, but I am glad that Tebow got drilled the other day. Now before you call me ruthless, I am praying that he makes a full recovery. You never want to see a player, from any team, get injured that. It scared the hell out of me seeing his head whiplash like that. Especially, with a possible neck neck injury. But having said that, I hope that Urban learned his lesson. There comes a point in the game where its time to take the starters out. He was long overdue for his brash arrogance and ignorance to come back to him in a game. Now it is possible that Tebow might not play against LSU. What do think about keeping him in the game now, Urban? But here's to hoping that he makes a speedy and safe recovery, cause after all he is the best on and off the field quarterback in the nation and someone to truly look up to.

Playing with a 31-7 lead.

Excellent point. I continue to believe the problem starts at QB. The offense goes as he goes and when confidence has been lost in him it impacts moral on both sides of the ball. Crompton's numbers rank him as one of the poorest qb's in college football. His on-field decision making ability and performance speak for themselves. How could his teammates possibly rely on him? Maybe he's all we have...but until Stephens or even the JC transfer are given an opportunity in a game situation we will never know.

when it happened, i saw his neck bend and was worried it was a spinal injury. so, i didn't think about anything football related at all. once it was known it was a concussion, i was thankful. i don't know how long he'll be out, but at least he'll be ok.

i had no problem with him being in the game and do not understand this criticism. there were 4 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. i don't think it was necessary or proper to pull the starters at that point.

if the thought is, yeah but you are playing kentucky.....well, then why was tebow playing in the first place. why would tebow play in half the games on florida's schedule? they could beat kentucky without him no problem.

should tebow play against vanderbilt? they can beat vandy without him. why risk injury?

injuries are unpredictable and part of football.

someone missed a block and he got hurt. that's football.

i'm just happy he's going to be ok.

but, i have no problem with him having been in the game with 4 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter.

I believe Washington has a pretty good qb but they are also 1-2 after losing pretty badly to Stanford. If Crompton plays just "average", we're probably 3-1 with a respectable loss to Fl and ranked in the Top 20. I find it very strange that Stephens isn't getting a chance after the 2 qbs were supposedly neck and neck during the spring. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds if we lose another game due to Crompton's ints or fumbles.

never claimed to be a genius and crompton limits what UT can do on offense. period. end of story. sorry.
