UT transfers on roster: QB Raulston, TE Slusher

Two transfers showed up as walk-ons on Tennessee's roster Wednesday during the first day of fall practice.

Doak Raulston is a quarterback who redshirted under Dooley at Louisiana Tech last year. He's a 6-foot-2 freshman from Fort Worth, Texas.

Brent Slusher, a senior tight end, played sparingly at Auburn in 2007, then spent 2008 on medical hardship and left before the 2009 season.

Welcome, gentlemen. Earn some playing time and, if you are worthy, a scholarship.

Earlier reports were that UT was hoping Bray would be able to redshirt (that was before Coleman quit). If this QB is any good, it may allow the redshirt for Bray unless the staff feels Simms is not the answer for this yr.

Vandy you are out of it.
Reading Cards and crystal ball's went out years ago. Dooley is yet to coach a game for UT, so I am stunned that you know so much about him not working out. But if you are a VandyGrad then they must teach subjects in witch craft that I didn't know about.

Why don't you just dry up?

The only thing a Vandy grad knows about a good football team is your school has never had one.

I'm willing to give Dooley time. If, in 60 years, UT sinks to the level of Vandy, then come back and crow.

The worst five-year stretch in Tennessee history is as good as the best five-year stretch Vandy has ever had.

I really don't need or want your advise.I think Dooley is working out just fine. Real Vol fans still don't fear anybody. We may lose some games but Fear, NO!

Taking advice or insight from a Vandy fan on football is like getting advice from Carrott Top on how to be funny, or from Richard Simmons on how to fit in and be laid back...in other words, next!

Its 2010 and TN STILL fears no one! Whether other teams fear us or not is their problem. Any fan that has watched the vols for the last 10 years knows that you never count us out, no matter who we step on the field with. No matter what it'll always be TN VOLS FOOTBALL and nothing will EVER change that. GO BIG ORANGE!!

I believe Dooley will get it done. If he doesn't work out the next guy or the guy after that will. Tennessee will be on top again.
Vandy never will. But I'm glad you've learned to live with it.

I'm from Brentwood and will bet you any amount you want that Tennessee will beat Vaaanderbilt this year! Name the time and place?

If you knew anything about football, which you don't being from Vaaanderbilt, CDD NEEDS BODIES right now! We are 12 scholarship players down, DUH!

There is no way Bray redshirts and likely wouldn't have if Stephens had stayed. He could be starting for us if Simms can't handle the job.

Asinine.

Who is "making excuses" for Dooley? He has done nothing for which he needs to be "excused." Statements of opinion and statements of fact are not equivalent. Didn't you learn anything in elementary school?

What is your excuse?

I do not think CDD plans on using Raulston to run the show, just think Dooley wants a little depth just in case. Besides if need be I'm sure he can hand the ball off to a RB.
