Bryce Brown puts on a Tennessee cap shortly after announcing in March, 2009, that he intended on playing for Tennessee.

From a football standpoint, the Bryce Brown saga had already reached a conclusion.

Now it appears all the loose ends are tied up between the former Tennessee running back and the Vols.

According to an ESPN.com report Friday, Brown was interviewed by the NCAA about his recruitment as part of the continuing investigation into UT and former coach Lane Kiffin to close one chapter.

Brown also reportedly made a case to appeal his denial of a scholarship release from new coach Derek Dooley on Thursday, though a source in the UT program indicated he was unlikely to have the decision overturned. The person requested anonymity because the appeal process has not been completed.

That means he’ll have to pay his own way for a year at his next stop — and the last piece of that puzzle fell into place with Brown enrolling at Kansas State this week along with his brother Arthur.

So should end the drawn out proceedings between the former No. 1 recruit in the country and the Vols after months of uncertainty, though his two-hour teleconference could still play a factor in a future verdict for Kiffin or UT, which still could receive a letter of inquiry from the NCAA as part of the official investigation into recruiting practices.

“The NCAA has asked us not to speak to the specific questions that Bryce was asked about their investigation,” Brown’s father Arthur told ESPN.com. “What I will say is that at the time Bryce was being recruited, he was already under investigation by the NCAA.

“So on our part, we and the coaches were hypersensitive and above board and didn’t violate rules. We asked questions if we didn’t know. He was already under investigation at that time and was cleared.”

The clearance paved the way for his one-year run with the Vols. But that relationship should finally be completely over now.

Nothing about FHCPF makes him qualified to be AD.

What about Heath Shuler for AD?

So Brice was a witness instead of a suspect. This is about hostesses and interns apparently. If it is all tagged to Kiff, then it'll be just warning to UT. If the UTAD is fingered, Ham will be gone.

Just a guess.

I still think they should have given him his release..KIFF lied to him in telling him he would be at TENN for a long time!! Let the kid go and don't put a hardship on his family. FIRE HAMILTON..HIRE FULMER..it's their mantra 3. I agree that once the season starts nothing will change for them. Hypothetical...UT beats Oregon 24-10..commentary...Oregon played terrible, that's why we won...FIRE HAMILTON..HIRE FULMER. Get my drift. They don't know anything else. ROCKY TOP!

Thats just it. He didnt want to leave. His father wanted him to leave because Coach Dooley would not allow his brother to transfer to Tennessee. The kid liked Tennessee.

BAMA played Oklahoma back-to-back and UCLA. PSU was postponed and is being played in about three weeks from now. BAMA always plays tough games. Get a life.

Some of those same thoughts were going through my head recently. Figure I'm just getting old. Does anyone remember when the State of Tennessee changed it's auto license tag every year acknowledging UT and Vandy? One year orange plate/white lettering, next year black plate/gold lettering, then white plate/orange lettering, then gold plate/black lettering. Now we let every school in the country have a Tennessee licence plate providing they get enough people to register?? Gotta admit, here in Georgia, we're doing the same thing! Guess who has a Georgia plate with a "Power T" on it? I can hear John Ward on the radio right now yelling, "Give him six."
GO BIG ORANGE!!

Shuler doesn't need the job. When and if he loses his job in Washington we the taxpayer will still continue to pay him his salary the rest of his life, or his spouse if he goes first.

Dear TommyJack,

Please share with us how many AD search committees you have served on to make such a blanket statement. I find it hard to believe that Phil Fulmer has "nothing" on his resume to make him AD at UT.

Anyway, how many ADs have you hired, per se?

Don't forget that they also play powerhouse San Jose State early. Ahhhh, forget that; the Spartans finished last in the WAC coaches' and media preseason polls.

How can you say anything about Kiffin or Dooley, one year removed from brat Kiffin he never had enough time here to prove anything?? CDD has not even coached a game here yet, give it at least a season before you blast him..True enough Fulmer stole JM's job and even his conservative horrible coaching netted a Sears trophy..For all Fulmer's faults, he was a decent recruiter and as long as Walt Harris or Cutclffe were there he had good offenses..The minute those guys left, big boy collapsed like a rusted lawn chair..I don't miss Ol Phil getting out-coached by Vandy and Wyoming, do you??

Bama like ALL schools does NOT always play tough games!! Don't ever remember them playing UCLA. They do play an occasional tough game just like most of the SEC schools. How about this years TOUGH game with first year program Georgia State?

I guess Georgia State who doesnt even know what there jersey colors are yet bc they have never played a game in college football are a really tough team too? Ill have to make sure I see that one on ESPN, oh thats right its not gonna be televised bc its cupcakes. well maybe San Jose or duke will be tougher Lol. F.Y.I Tennessee has actually won four more games than bama in the last seven yrs since 2002 and had a better strength of schedule average in that span as well not including 2009 when they had their great undefeated season. Go Vols!

If i remember correctly, UT has tried to postpone the UNC game, but UNC has declined. So what is the difference? If Bama played a good Cincy team, UF, a better UNC team, UGA, LSU, and UT back-to-back ten years ago, they would have cried foul.
I personally think we should go ahead and play whomever is on the schedule, but that’s not my call.
