Glen Stanley’s commitment to Tennessee is in serious question after his official visit to Southern California this past weekend.
The 6-foot-2, 245-pound linebacker from Eastern Arizona Community College told USCFootball.com he will make his final decision on National Signing Day on Wednesday.
“They’re giving me an invite to play for the University of Southern California,” he told the Web site. “The name speaks for itself.”
“But I’m keeping things open for the most part. I’m committed to Tennessee still, but I’d say I’m open. That’s just where I am right now.”
Stanley, who committed to UT last week after originally committing to Central Florida, said his communication with USC began through former UT coach Ed Orgeron.
“They got to SC, and they said they needed help with the linebacking corps,” Stanley told USCFootball.com. “Coach Orgeron got in touch with me maybe a week after he took the job at SC.”

Oh well, win some, lose some. Look at rivals predictions, noone is picking Ambles (WR) to go to USC, 2 experts say UT, and 3 say NC.

The boogie man found young mister stanley did he? Hope the young man knows what type of men he is dealing with. The ones we tolerated(shame on me) to get wins at 'all expense.' I prefer class and build it the right way. Mr. Stanley we would like you to play at Rocky Top! Don't go to the other 'top' that will put a bad spin on ya........

I thought they weren't going to recruit our commitments? Where are you Hamilton? Are you asleep at the wheel?

Looks like the USC commit loss was four-star offensive lineman Giovanni Di Poalo from Ventura, CA. Gotta love it.

I guess someone from Arizona would think that of USC. Another reason to focus on the eastern and southern regions of the US.

This is just Kiff and Orgeron trying to stick it to Tennessee. Hopefully this kid can see he is being used to get back at us. They don't want him, they just want us not to get him.

So Coach O was in touch with Stanley a week after they went to USC??? But then once Thompson was recruitng Stanley, he gave a solid verbal committ to UT..And then he went to visit USC..Sheesh..here we go again.

USC = UT West
Glen Stanley, You have 3 years to play and USC will probably be on probation the entire time you are there. That means no one will see you on TV, you will never play in a Bowl Game and you will probably have 5 less teammates. Not to menition the coaching staff is made up of shallow minded, self centered, wanna be's that have been all but blackballed in the coaching fraternity. But if surfing is what you like, USC is the place for you.
But it seems like keeping your commitment to UT is the best option. GO VOLS!

EXACTLY! Maybe for Stone...Rogers...?

TNGirl007 writes:
Do these recruits even know the definition of COMMITTED?!?! Besides, the name USC "speaks for itself"?? Yeah, it does because they're constantly committing NCAA violations. Seriously, if you don't want to come here, that's fine. Just don't let dishonest, manipulative ppl sweet talk you. You'll just end up hurting yourself in the end when reality finally shows through the mirage they've painted.
Pepe_Lepew writes:
But *that guy* gave Mike Hamilton his word that he would not seek out Vol commitments!!! A man is only as good as his word....oh, I forgot who we were talking about....
RoyaltyVol#280778 writes:
I think we have a pretty good shot at Ambles. Lets just hope that 4 hour trip by car from Atlanta sealed the deal. I understand Thompson and another coach went down to get him, hopefully one sat in the back seat with Ambles and did a 4 hour sales job on him. Im feeling pretty confident that we will get either Rogers or Ambles and possibly both. Can you imagine if we get both and with the QB's we got, this will be IMO one of the best recruiting classes in years.
Ron1967 writes:
When Hamilton hired a thug like Kiffin, this sort of douchebaggery comes with the territory.
Lil Kiffin's principal henchman, O, didn't seem to get the word that Lil Lane had promised Hamilton that he wouldn't contact recruits unless they contacted him first.
Looks like Lil Lane lied again.
PureOrange writes:
If the guy is dumb enough to believe that group after all that has been proven about them, then he is probably not smart enough to come to UT. Let him go.
DancingOutlaw writes:
I'm not sure how we can get mad at these recruits. Guy committed to central FL and we stole him away. Now another school comes courting and he changes his mind. You all get so mad at kiff and coach o for being underhanded, recruiting out of spite, etc. but they're doing the same thing we did to take him away from UCF. Personally I am not interested in these kids that commit, decommit, recommit, commit. That indecisiveness shows a lack of maturity, something we don't need especially from a juco. Let him go where he wants, our track record with waffling prospects is not good.

I don't have a dog in this fight but for a kid to want to go to USC over UT after what Kiffin and the wrecking crew did is beyond me.
UTBEATEMALL writes:
That opens up a spot! We're not that thin at LB and if he's saying that he's open then I ignore the part about him saying he's still a UT commit. Dawg, please. If it's between Stanley and Davin Glass, give me the OL all day!

He said he was contacted by Coach Oregron aka. SCUMBAG about a week after they left. Makes you wonder if Garza took some files when he left and if Stanley was one of the files. The timing sure fits.
Volunatic writes:
Good luck to the guy, whatever he chooses.
RoyaltyVol#280778 writes:
Or it could be that these kids just simply believe the lies that Kiffin & company tell. One thing for sure, Kiffin doesn't care about these kids at all, he just cares about his own selfish ambitions.
gwbask writes:
this answers why he was a JUCO kid. Sounds like the lights are on, but no one is home. If he goes, so be it. It also just deepens the lack of character that our former staff has. "we won't recruit any UT players"
WLafIndianavol writes:
If someone wants to go to USC (SCUmbag U), let 'em. These recruits will be transferring out next year after the NCAA drops the hammer on SCUmbag U and Kiffin the Richardhead!

Sorry, I'm starting to think someone did something very bad to "X" or his wife! Why else would he act this way to a community that welcomed him and his famley? All the money and pactience were given to him. Why would he take every opportunity to "stick it" to Tennessee at all cost? Makes no sense! Something doesn't pass the smell test.

Remember, board....All's fair in Love, War, and Recruiting! Nobody dislikes surfer boy any more than me, but we DID get in bed with the loser! Unfortunately, he has a knack for getting under the skin of opposing coaches / programs. He dislikes UT just as he disliked Florida. Everyone swooned when he stole Nu'Keese and Janzen, now he's the thorn in OUR side! Thanks, Hammy!
MidTennVol writes:
"I’m committed to Tennessee still, but I’d say I’m open."
Do these kids even listen to themselves? What kind of world are they living in? What kind of values are they being taught? Do they even know what the word "commitment" means? Will this kid even graduate high school?
Son, if you're not sure, the word is DE-COMMIT. If you're not sure at this point, and you say you are "open," that means you are NO LONGER COMMITTED to ANY school. You can't be "committed" and "open" at the same time. It doesn't work that way, unless you're living in some parallel universe.
And this college football recruiting circus may indeed have already become a parallel universe.
Unbelievable.
