UT prospect Shaw chooses Florida State

— Tennessee prospect Kenny Shaw committed to Florida State during Saturday's Under Armour All-Star Game. The 6-foot, 160-pound receiver from Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando donned a Florida State and did the tomahawk chop to declare his intentions.

Shaw told the News Sentinel this week that he was down to Florida State and UT. Shaw admitted the Seminoles had a slight lead.

"They showed me alot of love through spring ball," Shaw said of Florida State's coaches.

My vote for most ignorant post of the day. UTs football program has had 1 incident since CLK was hired as HC. And since when have FSU and Miami been competitive in basketball. FSU football will re-emerge now that Bowden has stepped down and younger blood has taken over. Miami made a change a couple of years ago and they have been on the rise again too. And in case you didn't notice, those programs are not 23 scholarships down like UT. The staff at UT got as much out of the available players as possible in their first year. Sure UT has some talent on starting lineup, but when there are injuries and backups come in, it shows as was the case in the chikin bowl.If your going to discredit UT and its athletic program, you might want to study up or shut up!

The people on here who think this is the AD's fault or the coaches fault are the reason this society we live in is like it is. They don't understand the real world and probably live in a glass house. Nobody in management of UT can stop young men or women from doing things in there free time. Check out the number of students that do drugs and carry guns in their auto. You would be shocked, are we suppose to ask the Chancellor and the President to be removed since they didn't baby sit the 25,000 plus students.
I am for removing them from the program, but if you negative posters have someone in your family do something wrong, then remove yourself from the family.

One of Gran's responsiblity was special teams, and cost us the Alabama game. Plus we didn't have a punt or kickoff return for a TD (at least, I don't think) we had kicking problems all year long. I don't regret him being gone. I think CLK has already replaced him with someone better.

I agree to some of your post LV and disagree with some. Let me start by saying noone bleeds orange deeper than I do NOONE,but when these things happen we have to look at ourselves and call a spade a spade if it fits. We need to "weed" out the problem people in both fb and bb take our "shots" of criticism from hecklers and go on. What goes around comes around eventually. Winning will shut the real trolls up faster than anything else.

I think its interesting that the coaches that leave are the two that had responsibility for two of our most glaring weaknesses this year: special teams and wide receivers. i wondered when Wilson and Gran left if it was because Kiffin had made it clear that their production was not acceptable. That is pure speculation on my part but I don't believe in coincidences. It certainly didn't appear that Kiffin made any effort to keep them and and then we know Kippy makes a ton more than Wilson did. And I expect that guy from the Bucs will make significantly more than Gran did as well. I guess my point is this--if Wilson and Gran had been indispensable Kiffin has shown he knows how to keep people. And he didn't keep Wilson or Gran. Just a thought.

I'll stick up for you since obviously the people who have responded think that driving around with a couple of guns in the car with weed in it is not a big deal and is worthy of a second chance.

When I see the words guns, drugs, police across two major sports teams in the athletic department, I question the effectiveness of leadership.

We can argue over a misdemanor versus felony, who the car was rented from (last time I checked at Hertz they didn't give me a 357 magnum under the seat option), and whether they are guilty or not. There were guns involved and you don't accidentally happen upon them. I know who I associate with and whether they might have a couple of guns on them. Unless they are a hunter, or are trying to legally protect themselves, chances are they are a bit shady. And yes these same folks can be students at a university who if caught one time would be booted right the hell out.

Bottom line the athletes wear an orange and white shirt. They represent a university. Guarantee you that a UPS driver would be fired for hauling a weapon under the front seat of the truck. UPS has an image to protect. Do we?

Now, if a shooting happens in the near future from a player in our athletic department, we can all say well gee we didn't have a warning sign and we just didn't want to up our standards on behavior and don't you know it's the individuals responsibility to monitor his own behavior.

Why don't we just throw our hands in the air and demand less from our leaders. Wake up folks marijuana is not legal even though it causes less harm to the body. You can't work for a major company, hell you can't drive a commerical freight truck if you test positive.

Not saying one test for weed in your urine and you are out, I do think twice and you are gone. Get caught with a weapon in your posession once and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I wonder if we could train Smokey to find weed and turn him loose in the dorms. I also wonder how many times he'd run on the football field or basketball court during a game (provided we could move him from the student section).

We keep it up, more than the KPD well be involved.

No, I've upgraded to a Lady GaGa/Marilyn Manson get up. Makes it easier to conceal the big heater I've got strapped on my thigh (I still have my 1928 gun permit). I wish they'd bring Clinton back as these polticians nowdays just don't have the flair.

What exactly is Meyer lying about? Returning as the coach? lol! Now what sense would that make for him to plan to not return, but lie to the recruits that he was? If he wasnt going to return or didn't plan on it, selling recruits on coming to UF wouldnt benefit him at all. As for UF still getting the recruits, well yeah its Florida, it sells itself. The same reason bozo Zook after multiple 5 loss seasons still kept bringing in top recruits. And while Florida got some good commitments today, the best is still to come with prospects like Sentel Henderson OT, Ronald Powell DE and Jordan Hicks LB still having UF high on their list and UF projected to get at least 2 of those if not all 3.

By the way, good to see those top rated skill players like Chris Dunkley are not interested in a non NFL type offense like Florida. lol!

It's a real shame what happened to Tebow, a great kid and competitor.Florida didn't do the kid justice, he could have been a top draft pick if he was in the right offense and coached up,but he'll lose millions just to be a gator.Kids will wake up eventually and stop being brainwashed especially on the offensive side of the ball..

If Dorsey comes to UF he comes, if not there are still plenty of DBs in a UF class that is starting to look really good and balanced.

QB- Trey Burton 3 star
RB- Mack Brown 4 star
WR- Quinton Dunbar 4 star
WR- Chris Dunkley 4 star
WR- Robert Clark 3 star
WR- Solomon Patton 3 star
TE- Gerald Christian 4 star
TE- Michael McFarland 3 star
OT- Ian Silberman 4 star

DE- Dominique Easley 4 star
DE- Neiron Ball 4 star
DE- Lynden Trail 4 star
DT- Leon Orr 4 star
LB- Gideon Ajaqbe 3 star
DB- Demar Dorsey 4 star
DB- Jordan Haden 4 star
DB- Cody Riggs 4 star
DB- Joshua Shaw 4 star
DB- Jaylen Watkins 4 star
Ath- Travon Van 4 star
Ath- Jonathan Dowling 3 star

And then hopefully 5 stars OT Henderson, DE Powell and LB Hicks to round out the class.

Yeah its a real shame that Tebow came to Florida and only won 2 national titles and a heisman trophy. lol! Maybe when the Vols stop getting so infatuated with what they can have their players do in the NFL, they might start focusing on what they can do in college and win at that level. Thats what coaches like Meyer get paid to do. Not based off of where his 2 time national championship/heisman trophy QB gets drafted.
