Dec. 1, 2008: Lane Kiffin introduced as football coach at Tennessee.

Dec. 15, 2008: Kiffin's stellar staff of assistants is highlighted by the hiring of his father, legendary NFL defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.

Feb. 4, 2009: Signing day is a good one for the Vols who produce a top 10 class despite the late start with a new staff.

Feb. 5, 2009: Kiffin accuses Florida coach Urban Meyer of violating NCAA recruiting rules at a booster breakfast, the first of at least six secondary violations.

March 16, 2009: Recruiting class gets even better with the signing of running back Bryce Brown, the top prospect in the country.

April 18, 2009: Kiffin encouraged about Vols after Orange and White Game.

Sept. 5, 2009: Tennessee defeats Western Kentucky 63-7 in his first game as UT coach.

Sept. 19, 2009: Tennessee plays No. 1-ranked Florida close, loses 23-13 at Florida.

Oct. 10, 2009: Tennessee defeats Georgia at 45-19 at Neyland Stadium, arguably the biggest win of Kiffin's career at UT.

Oct. 24, 2009: Tennessee has chance to beat No. 1-ranked Alabama, but has field goal blocked on final play in 12-10 loss in Tuscaloosa.

Nov. 13, 2009: Three Vols are arrested in an attempted armed robbery at the Pilot Station on Cumberland Avenue.

Dec. 31, 2009: Tennessee loses to Virginia Tech 37-14 in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.

Jan. 12, 2010: Kiffin announces he is leaving Tennessee for the Southern Cal job and taking assistants Monte Kiffin and Ed Orgeron.
