Great hire for KY, AK, MS, or SC ..... but we are UT. OUR program is a top 15 program in the country, we got to be able to do better.

Yea, there were some people who said the same thing when we hired a young coach with no UT ties years ago....Robert Neyland.

LOL True, and it's spelled correctly, too! :)

His head coaching record surprises me. 20-30 overall. Sad. If this ends up coming to fruition and we bust, I will personally lead a revolt against the UTAD, starting with Hammy's fat wallet and ego.

Hold on, did we get beat by MS? Did we go into overtime with KY? I thought so.

Rodney Garner? APparently he didn't want anything to do with UT last year. Post the source, please...

Yes, but that just shows how far we fell under Fulmer.

You have got to be friggin kidding me!!! I am a TN guy all the way and stuck here wearing all my TN gear on Friday at work but if they hire this guy with no resume over Kippy, Cut, and others then Hamilton has to be fired as he is the biggest idiot ever. This would be a complete embarrassment!!! Louisi friggin Tech.... are you kidding me. What are we? TN St or the real UT. Please say this aint so. Someone said he is the real deal..... why because he worked for Satan for a couple of years!!! What the He11 has he done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JenB (Inactive) writes:

Excuse me, Where are his ties to UT or even TN for that matter? I thought we were looking for someone that would actually care more about UT then themselves... Kippy is a better fit

volhome#407234 writes:

I don't care about his bio. I can read the coaching record. Stop there. This would be an EXTREMELY risky hire, and I am sick of taking risks. Hire from family someone who's already in house. Hire Kippy Brown!

You remember the search for Neyland?? Wow, maybe you should be the coach.

Heard the comment on the radio. Just speculation only. I find it comical Hyams distatste for Garner. He hates that Cat! Garner would be a nice fit with the recruiting staff.

All you guys crack me up. Glad you all have so much football knowledge and experience hiring a head coach at a major college football program to decide on whether or not he's gonna be a great head coach even before the press conference!

Just get behind whoever it is and get over it! Let's be honest: most of you were gonna be pissed no matter who it was!

Given all the issues over the past year (arrests), does anyone else think it funny that we've hired an attorney to head up our football team?

tedvolNC writes:

We need great players to win no matter who the coach is and this guy seems to be a very good recuriter. He has ties to Georgia and like Kiff said UT must recurit Ga. hard to be succesful. If Coach Dooley can save most of the commits we have and maybe convince some others to come we will be OK.

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... Its not an indictment on if he will be a good coach or not but rather an assessment on if he has done enough to warrant an oppotunity at a top program with built-in money. He11 he may be great but usually the freshman QB doesnt usually get the senior prom queen. The guy has not done anything impressive!!!

I can't believe these negative posts. Can't you guys at least do your due diligence on our new coach? If you will, you might be surprised. This guy has talent and has accomplished good results with MID-TALENT PLAYERS...he has been a recruiter for LSU...he has a STERLING reputation as a loyal, good man and coach. And he will keep Kippy and some of the other coaches. Hold your bad news comments until you get a clue!! Let's circle the wagons instead of making these pointless, no-knowledge comments.

pupvol writes:

Had to have a lawyer just in case we need one again! no-brainer!

d_ray writes:

This way we get a young and upcoming head coach with intelligence and we keep Kippy too. No way Hamilton is going to let Kippy be replaced. If Coach Dooley is the new hire, we need to give him 100% of our fan base support and make his life here better than we made Kiffin's first impression. Kiffin never felt comfortable here because we the fans never let him feel good about being here. He went home first chance he got.

So...again...let's give the new coach, who ever he is...a great UT welcome and support him and make him a winner. Fan support wins games.

finn writes:

We need to drop this whole 'ties to UT' requirement. Kiffin thorougly screwed us but does anyone think that he would have stayed if he had coached here for a year as a GA or something of the sort. he turned out to a be a weasel and that was the issue not his lack of ties to UT. If Dooley is the man, give him a chance and don't forget that we're supposed to support the team not just the coach. Also, ask Bama and UF how important school ties are. They seem to be doing just fine going outside the family.

Way to go on explaining yourself......

utken1942 writes:

One winning season in 4 years, not much to hang your hat on. it is risky move and i was hoping we would get someone with UT ties. The AD just out his job on an unproven coach with a small resume. Was hoping for Kippy, but I,ll still wear my UT gear no matter who is coach.

I guess the fact that Kippy was once an assistant coach under Fulmer was too much for Mikey to stomach. If the Utah coach could have been hired and wasn't Mikey should be fired immediately.

Due dilligence! This group want's a great sound byte over substance. If they took 30 seconds to look at his resume they'd see he has an understanding of the SEC, recruting, coached and recruited alot of top talent at LSU, including their NC team, Saban thought enough of him to take him to Miami, and the only reason he isn't a coordinator at Alabama is he wanted to be a HC. Instead these yahoo's would rather moan about why Dungy's not begging for the job.

Big Orange I hope all real UT fans support whoever is in place and whatever team we have. However, I will ask you.... what makes this guy a better candidate or coach than Kippy or Cut? Read his bio compared to theirs!!! Thats all I am saying.

They should've let Cutcliffe bring his staff. That is what most coaches do. UT allowed Kiffin to put together the most expensive staff in UT history, but won't allow a proven winner to fo the same. I just don't understand.

"Fear the Kiffin", "Get on the Lane Train"... the rat even got us believing in "moral victories" over Bama and FL!!! Whoever finally gets the job should get our unconditional support... THIS IS TENNESSEE doggonit! We might be down but we will get back up, soon I hope and kick some azzz!

Kiffypoo leaving is the best thing that could happen in the long term... Dooley, Kippy, Cut, whoever is better than the turd we had.

Stay Classy Tennessee
