WEDNESDAY

11:30 p.m.: Source tells News Sentinel that Cutcliffe is forming staff in anticipation of UT job, but no deal is in place.

11 a.m.: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Utah coach Kyle Whittingham rejected advances from the Vols after meeting with them Thursday night, shifting the attention to Louisiana Tech's Derek Dooley.

Noon: The rumors around Dooley heat up, and media outlets in both Knoxville and Louisiana tab him as the likely successor to Kiffin.

2 p.m.: Nationally a deal is assumed to be done with Dooley, though UT doesn't confirm it has a coach and Louisiana Tech will neither confirm nor deny movement.

4 p.m.: Hamilton officially offers Dooley the job, and he meets with the Bulldogs before getting on a plane to Knoxville.

9 p.m.: Dooley is welcomed as the 22nd head coach in school history in the Peyton Manning Locker Room Complex.

I wonder what the hang up was with Whittingham. He met with UT so apparently it wasn't strictly about not leaving at this time of the year during recruiting. Otherwise, he would have not even met with UT. So, what was the non-starter? I think we'd have been better off with Whittingham. But, as is stands, I'll stand behind Dooley.

Dooley, don't you make a fool of me like Kiffin did!

This kid will represent the Vol Nation with class and dignity! Like CBP would say "you know what" he will win SEC Championships!
Hammy finally got it right!!
Now lets all get behind him!
UT and South Florida made major upgrades on the same day and both programs will be much stronger for it!
Now lets keep the people from Haiti in our prayers!

The term "blessing in disguise" comes to mind with this situation. With weasel boy leaving, and Dooley being hired after others turned the offer down this could be the coach of the future here in the SEC. I actually enjoyed his press conference last night. I think we will be on top in 2 years.

That is the most stupid thing I have ever read. You need to clean up your sorry life. You don't have to be in love with Fulmer, but you need to be respectful of all men.I am glad we don't have Fulmer anymore, but I do respect what he did for most of his time here as a player ,a coach, and a good human being.I wish you would tripple the miles you are from U.T.
I am not trying to be disrespectful to you.I am just telling the truth.
