Approximately 11:30 p.m.: Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp releases a statement indicating he will remain with the Longhorns. TCU coach Gary Patterson also denies interest in UT job.
11 a.m.: Former UT coach Phillip Fulmer releases a statement clarifying comments about his interest in returning to UT and offers an endorsement to the right candidate.

6 p.m.: Multiple sources confirm to the News Sentinel that Cutcliffe will be named coach barring a last-second snag in negotiations.
11:30 p.m.: Source tells News Sentinel that Cutcliffe is forming staff in anticipation of UT job, but no deal is in place.
9 a.m.: Cutcliffe releases statement saying he will remain at Duke. Sources confirm there was a snag in negotiations over his staff at UT.
11 a.m.: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Utah coach Kyle Whittingham rejected advances from the Vols after meeting with them Thursday night, shifting the attention to Louisiana Tech's Derek Dooley.
Noon: The rumors around Dooley heat up, and media outlets in both Knoxville and Louisiana tab him as the likely successor to Kiffin.
2 p.m.: Nationally a deal is assumed to be done with Dooley, though UT doesn't confirm it has a coach and Louisiana Tech will neither confirm nor deny movement.
4 p.m.: Hamilton officially offers Dooley the job, and he meets with the Bulldogs before getting on a plane to Knoxville.
9 p.m.: Dooley is welcomed as the 22nd head coach in school history in the Peyton Manning Locker Room Complex.
