Former Tennessee men's basketball player Emmanuel Negedu has received a waiver from the NCAA to be eligible to play this season at New Mexico.
UT assistant coach Steve Forbes said he talked with Negedu Friday. UT staff member Marc Pancratz also talked to Negedu and released the information on his Twitter account about the 6-foot-7 forward receiving the waiver.
He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Negedu's heart stopped following a workout in the UT indoor football facility on Sept. 28, 2009. He had a internal cardiac defibrillator implanted in his chest and did not play last season.
UT announced in April that they would not give medical clearance for Negedu to return to the team.

Be blessed. You are very deserving of good things. Too bad our society's current fear of lawsuits kept you from gracing the floor again as a Vol. You will always be one of my favorite Vols.

This is Alford's team, right?? interesting how he keeps crossing our path:
-humiliated UT in NCAA's (while with Southern NW East Missouri State), hastening Jerry Green's exit
-Got Tyler Smith to Iowa
-Did poorly at Iowa, left. This helped Tyler get to UT.
-Now taking in E-man, who just may really become a superstar out there.
It's late, I'm tired, too damned lazy to fact check.
