QB Justin Worley commits to Vols

Tennessee has received a commitment from one of the top prospects in the southeast.

Quarterback Justin Worley from Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, S.C. confirmed to the News Sentinel via text message that he has committed to UT.

Worley had several scholarship offers but had recently culled his list to UT, LSU and Notre Dame.

This is good, as long as he can stay committed. Check him out on rivals, his numbers are decent. He should provide us a good backup option for 2011 or 2012.

DRORANGELOVE writes:

I'm telling you, give Dooley a little time and UT will be one of the dominant football programs in college football again. AND it will be a dominant program with CLASS and Integrity made up of young men and coaches who WANT to be at UT.
NOT a bunch of outlaws and mercenaries who are just there for themselves and have no loyalty to their teammates or school.

Huge pick up. This should build some momentum. Now lets get the big uglies.

Long time til NSD. I won't feel good about this until the kid signs. With having two young QB's and lots of time to reconsider and other programs chirping in his ear for months, I wouldn't get too excited too quick.

That's the way I feel about all "commits." Until it's on paper, it's just talk. Even after signing, it's not a guarantee. Just ask Sniffin about Seantrel Henderson. Hee, hee. Still would rather see players like this "commit" to the Vols than not.

jrobi124 writes:

I hope he stays with his commitment. great pickup this may give us depth at this position down the road. I think Bray is going to be a real good QB maybe the best we've had since Manning, but in the SEC you need a solid backup. GO VOLS!!!

FWBVol writes:

OK, again, some people are never going to be satisfied. We have people complaining when kids aren't committing and then when we get one of the better QBs in the South to commit the negative Goobers come out of the woodwork and point out it's a long time until signing day.

Worley previously said he wanted to make the decision before school starts so he can concentrate on his senior season. He has done that now, and I believe he will follow through.

If things go a bit south this season we might lose one or two kids. But if a kid doesn't want to be a part of something special that I and others believe Derek Dooley is going to build at Tennessee it's their loss.

Welcome aboard Justin.

This is a very good get. We will get positive national pub for beating out ND and LSU, two big-time programs. And it sends signals to other top recruits that highly sought recruits are committing to UT, and they won't be alone if they do. It also builds quality depth and competition at QB, always a good thing. Great job, coaches!!

Yes it is true, but in 2 years UT will have 4 straight top 10-15 recruiting classes and WILL have as much talent as any team in the country.

Let UF and Bama live it up (sorry I mean Bama only, UF is not on Bamas level. See SEC champ 09) for now cause in 2 years UT will be on the same level and the SEC will be back to UT or UF coming out of the East.

As loing as this staff can get the team to play hard and smart UT will be a great program again soon, because there is no doubt that UT will have the players to tin national championships. It will be up to the coaching staff to get the most of the talent on the team.

Great News! GO CDD & STAFF!

As Justin Worley commented in the story yesterday, "There's going to be competition everywhere you go," he said. "You always have to look at it that way. There's competition but I don't think that would be that much of a factor (in my recruiting)."

Every recruit that comes on campus talks about how great CDD and Staff are. The recruits say CDD & Staff are focused, easy to talk to and have a great plan for Tennessee.

With the new Vol for Life, great facilites, traditions and our great university these young men know.

The Volnation hopes to welcome you Justin to Big Orange Country in Feb!

Why doesn't anyone recognize Casey Clausen as one of our great QB'S? All you have to do is take 5 minutes to compare the stats and any logically thinking person would have to say Casey is one of the best we had.

Yes Please.!!! I believe the DD and staff are still working Jr. College material for this coming yr. I still hope so. WE have some good talent on board but little experience and little depth. Two more OL with a little background and watch the roll roll. Yes even this year with this tough schedule. The Or. game is going to be close and a real dog fight. Or needs to prove the are still a threat with all the problems they have had and we need to prove we're still Tenn. 7-3 I think but 8-2 is knocking.

You mentioned that we had a top 10 or top 15 class. Well, tell me what good that is? Look
at these top players that are now gone. Richardson, Douglass, Brown, etc. etc. Yes, they came to U.T. but they will not contribute long term because they left. So, what, we had a top 10 or 15 class. We lost some of the top players later.

I agree with you on Clausen, I feel he had a solid career. NO titles though, had 2001 SEC Championship gone different and who knows what may have happened in Pasedena, think he is celebrated right with Peyton and Tee. Still solid numbers and wins as you pointed out.

OK you're on. How about Gerryop holding the money? I think Simms is good enough to hole the job until Bray bulks up a little. And I don't think Bray starting will have any effect on this kids choice of schools.

Clausen never beat Georgia. Trust me, I was in school then, it was agonizing. We beat Miami 10-6. The TD was a 4th down run. No TD passes. He beat Florida 2x. One was with Zook. The other was when Travis Stephens ran for ~300 yards. He beat Michigan, after one of the most disappointing performances in school history, at the 2001 SEC championship game. Syracuse... are you kidding me? I think Western KY could beat Syracuse. Clausen was on some very impressive teams. Don't kid yourself though, Clausen is a poor man's Andy Kelly.

I was mistaken on the Ga win. I still haven't accepted the 2001 loss to them. What's your point about the 10-6 win AT MIAMI? Someone had to hand the ball off to Travis during the December Florida game. I guarantee you that if Casey would have been out for that game we would have lost. He threw for 300+ yards in the 01 SECCG. It's ungrateful fans like you that are ruining the Tennessee program. Peyton had much more to work with than Clausen ever did, but he never was able to beat Florida. Lets not forget about that Memphis embarrassment in 96. Hell, Hole In The Wall State could have beaten Memphis. Peyton's biggest win of his career was against an over-matched Auburn team in 97 that nearly tripped him up. He then turned around and had his as handed to him by Nebraska, but we still worship Peyton because he was able to throw for 1500 more career yards than Casey.

2 pretty good pick ups in 3 days...I hate to be a wet blanket but the fact remains that Fla;Bama ;LSU and auburn are killing us in recruiting..We sign the #22 qb in the nation and Fla ;GA and Auburn sign the top #5..this class is looking looking like a top #25 at best and considering our problems thats ok. I like the integrity approach Dooley has taken but at the end of the day who do you want in your backfield Tyrelle Pryor or Crompton/Stephens..In time big wins and BCS bowls will help our recruiting but for now our competition in the SEC are stacking and racking some big time talent; which will cost us games. This is a long term project but I for one am tired of losing to Bama and Fla every year; Sadly recruiting is becoming bigger than the game on the field..I love this team but I hate the dominance of our rivals..Not because they coach better but merely because they have better players; nothing more
