This week's four Tennessee football prospects are all in the trenches. A recent offer, a 2012 standout and some prospects still under evaluation make up this beefy list.
Alexandro Antoine
Position: Defensive end.
Size: 6-foot-2, 225 pounds
School/Hometown: Antioch High School.
Bio: It remains to be seen if the Vols will offer Antoine, who attended UT's camp last weekend. Some strong summer camp showings and a strong start to his senior season would help his stock. The Vols will likely be watching.
D.J. Humphries
Position: Offensive tackle.
Size: 6-foot-5, 270 pounds
School/Hometown: Mallard High School/Charlotte, N.C.
Bio: Clearly one of the premier prospects for 2012, it's a good sign for the Vols that Humphries visited Knoxville last weekend. However, competition abounds. Humphries' offer list is approaching 20 schools two months before his junior season. UT, Clemson, South Carolina, LSU, Notre Dame and Michigan are some of the more noteworthy.
Tarik Cook
Position: Center.
Size: 6-foot-2, 290 pounds.
School/Hometown: Stephenson High School/Stone Mountain, Ga.
Bio: Cook is another prospect that UT hasn't offered, but is evaluating. The Vols once struggled to sign prospects from Stephenson. Now, that seems like a distant memory since UT has signed linebackers Nigel Mitchell-Thornton and Robert Nelson from the school. Currently, Cook only has offers from smaller schools, but plays a position of need for UT.
Mack Crowder
Position: Center.
Size: 6-foot-4, 270 pounds.
School/Hometown: Tennessee High/Bristol.
Bio: Crowder performed well enough at last weekend's camp to earn a scholarship offer, according to InsideTennessee.com. UT is the most prominent of the handful of schools to offer Crowder, but Virginia Tech, Duke and Georgia Tech have the lead after early offers.

Play a part in the resurrection of Vol football, Mack. Nobody understands it better than a Tennessee boy. A sea of orange, running through the T, classes and fun on the Hill - your name forever etched in Volunteer lore.

If both the Tech schools are after this kid, something tells me he's a heck of a run blocker. Get 'em Dooley!

Pre-season polls don't mean much unless you're ranked high and lose early which seems to be the trend lately. Barring a major run on injuries, UT will crack the Top 25 sooner than most think in my opinion. Despite what Chris Low might think, UT is a sleeper in the SEC this year...just an opinion.
Glad to see these four on campus this week. Already looking forward to fall practice. GO Vols!
Btw KNS, why so much coverage of USC? We can get that stuff on ESPN.

rankings dont mean much Its Bama as a repeat and it will not be close. LSU's coach is an idiot and will lose them a game or two. The only comfort in Bama winning back to back is that they are in the SEC. Forget the preseason polls, is the SEC going to expand and are we bringing in Texas schools?

Hooker do you ever do your own leg work...or just read other sites and when the same exact prospects are written about...you figure it's time to make up some thoughts and put them to print as your own or even worse way off based opinions.
"The Vols once struggled to sign prospects from Stephenson"
One year they struggled with two LB's that ended up going to LSU. Other than that they've always done well in the Stone Mountain area schools.
Quit making stuff up, and furthermore stop pilphering other peoples stuff and doing your lazy reporting and actually interview some of these prospects. Oh wait....that's right none of them no who you are.... other than another DB from the Knoxville Media Core.

Remember 2 yrs ago UGAY was preseason #1 in the country, and GT was ranked last in the ACC. Same year Tech wins in Athens. Preseason rankings - not very important

These look more like pre-season rankings on a video game.

It's like he just pulled names out of his (you know what).
It's hot, humid, miserable and did I say humid? Now I know how a lobster feels. LOL!
The news in the M has centered around expansion talk and the hope that U of M can get into another conference.
BTW, what do you think about all this expansion talk? The college football landscape will definitely experience some changes.

There is nothing like a Friday especially the week I get paid yet being able to hear some recruiting news is priceless!
Although none have committed yet UT is on the list of several highly touted recruits. Hopefully we'll grab a few.

I read at ESPN.com that USC Jr's and Sr's can transfer and play immediately. Don't we (UT) have a need for some help on the offensive line (and probably other places)? The only thing that would make the NCAA sanctions against USC sweeter is if some of his boys would transfer to UT and suit up in orange. Probably won't happen but that would be awesome! Go VOLS!

It's about the almighty dollar or billions of dollars in this case. These conferences want lucrative TV contracts and that's it. I agree though that the SEC is fine without adding teams.
Good luck this weekend. We can expect a heat advisory so I'm sure KnoxVegas will have one too.
Just another reason I'm ready for September.

The NCAA indicated that those with 2 years or less could transfer. Don't know if that comes with any stipulations or not. According to an analyst on College Football Live they didn't expect many to transfer stating that Kiffin believed since upperclassmen had experienced playing in the Rose Bowl they would be okay not going the next few years.
If any leave it would most likely be to a Pac 10 school or one closer to the players hometown. I guess only time will tell though.

They have a center that is now available. I wouldn't mind getting Mustain as QB for a year, for that matter.

Robert Nelson didn't play at Stephenson.

I can't read the article because I'm not an Insider on ESPN but it sounds like UT may pick up another recruit.
Does anyone have news on an Andrew Power?

I don't even pay attention much at all to recruits IN JUNE THE YEAR BEFORE!
Amazing some people are so into this and already calling rankings and stuff months before February!
These are 17-18 year old kids! Grow up recruitniks! You know how hard it is to get them to clean their room, pick a place to eat, etc. THEY CHANGE THEIR MINDS EVERYDAY!
These discussions shouldn't even occur till after the bowls every year.
AtLeastMyTeamHasPerfectSeasons writes:
Some of you jokers even have called for the demise of the UT program based on 4 signees 8 months in advance!
