FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas’ homecoming game this year will be against Vanderbilt on Oct. 30.
The school announced its plans Thursday. Arkansas has won its last four homecoming games.
The last homecoming loss for the Razorbacks was in 2005 against South Carolina, and they haven’t scheduled a Southeastern Conference opponent for homecoming since. This is the first time Arkansas’ homecoming game will be against Vanderbilt.

Well, yeah - if it weren't for the Homecoming tradition - Vandy would not be in the SEC.

Come on now. Vandy had some good years, not a giant in Football but right there with Ky in BBall. Ga Tech was another school that was high in the SEC. Tulane well that was Tulane. But all three of those schools had difficult entrance standards. At their time they couldn't complete recruiting. I for one am very proud of Vandy, no I'm not a Commodore I'm a Vol grad. Fact is I love the SEC and think the group we have are the top of the barrel. Tradition, Fans, Coaches, and players in all sports. Home games, love them and support each and every one.

Anybody know when was the last time an opponent scheduled UT for homecoming?

Does anyone know the last time that UT was a homecoming opponent? When I was in high school, we usually chose our toughest home opponent for homecoming. In college, it used to be considered an insult to be chosen as a homecoming opponent, because that was usually your weakest home opponent. While some SEC schools still follow that tradition, most are now choosing SEC opponents for homecoming. LSU has picked UL Monroe for its homecoming opponent. Last year Auburn picked Furman, and this year they have picked UTC. Ole Miss picked UAB last year, and haven't designated a HC opponent this year. It seems like Tennessee usually picks a nonconference opponent (Memphis last year), but this year chose Ole Miss. Alabama almost always chooses an SEC opponent (Ole Miss this year, South Carolina last year and Arkansas in 2008). Florida will play Miss. State for homecoming, and Georgia (like Arkansas) will play Vandy. South Carolina chose Arkansas to be its homecoming opponent , while Vandy chose South Carolina. But Kentucky seems to win the prize for choosing the toughest homecoming opponent. Last year they picked Miss. State, and this year they picked Georgia.

I'm pretty sure GA Tech used to schedule TN for HC back in 60's-70's think that went away by the 80's.
Good question, don't know for sure.
