Kentucky fans overrun Nashville for SEC tournament

— One of the most popular T-shirts being hawked around town during the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament tells Kentucky fans to Paint Nashville Blue.

And so they did.

Lower Broadway has been wall-to-wall blue for the better part of a week.

"It's kind of infuriating, if you want to know the truth," said Vanderbilt fan David Stempel, one of the few people in the crowd in front of Bridgestone Arena who weren't wearing blue.

A couple of things here. I am currently living in Lexington, so I feel I have some insight. UK fans are hungry, I would say a lot like Alabama football fans were when Saban came to town. The other reason can be found throughout history. "Ignorant is the masses." Whenever a cult-like figure rises, he can sway the weak and the weary (i.e. Hitler, Napoleon, recently Obama (not that I would put him with the others)). Calapari says something and these people will trip over his words. One last thing. Don't cry over the economy when you're giving upwards of $1000 for a ticket.

Hopefully when the fans leave Nashville, that funky smell around town will leave also.

Touche TD!

After our win over LSU Thursday, I couldn't help but notice the large number of KY fans gathered around downtown Nashville.

But the strangest thing of all happened at a cheap dental supply store.

After I worked my way to the front of a l-o-n-g line of Wildcat fans...I discovered that they were selling false teeth 2 for 1.

I bet the check cashing places/title loans/pawn shops in KY hit a new record for customers this week.

For TD Tenn: Whenever a cult-like figure rises, he can sway the weak and the weary (i.e. Hitler, Napoleon, recently Obama (not that I would put him with the others))..... or Palin or Beck or O/Reilly. But definitely like Saban. I live in AL, which I thought had a monopoly on the meth trade, and it was like the second coming when he arrived. He did produce but the Bama fans all have this glassy eyed, give me the kool-aid look about them. I shudder to think what will happen when there's a bump in the road.

I thought this was a sports board, not a board for some ignoramus to put down THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. But Tea B@ggers are another good example of the stupid and ignorant masses following someone who thinking is completely screwed up....so it probably evens out

So you guys wish Tennessee fans turned out like Kentucky fans to support their team on the road. But since Tennessee fans don't, then let's ridicule the Kentucky fans. Jealousy rears it's ugly head.

I suppose I could have been bipartisan, but I was going with people that mean something in history as examples. I don't believe a former governor and two TV personalities will account for many memories in 15 to 20 years. I apologize if I made this a democrat-hate thing for you. I'm not necessarily against Obama, just stating his following had a cult-lika aura that can be compared to that of Calapari by UK fans.

Have you, like most others have or would like to have,
forgotten that Palin was a candidate for Vice President just a little over a year ago? And now she is speaking at Tea B@ggers conventions.
Cult....

Well said. I also live in lexington. I gotta hear this phooey all year during basketball. But, they are die hard when it comes to basketball. I'm not gonna be a hater. As bad as I hate UK, their fan base is solid in football and basketball. In case some of you hadn't heard the university is planning an expansion of commonweatlh stadium to around 95,000 and are expected to sell out every seat with season tickets. We just gotta face the fact and realize everyone is competing with high dollars these days and will do anything to put their school in the top.

Very well said to you and BO61. We just do not have a big fan base that will follow the Vols. Last year Auburn got the better bowl bid because the head honchos said they needed the seats filled, and TN fans had not done that in the past. The FB stadium has not been filled to capacity the last two years. Fans are selling their tickets to the opposing team fans. we were there at the BB games when the arena was shrouded in black curtains. Where was the fan base then? And tickets were dirt cheap, but still the "die hard Vol fans" never showed. I think our 'fans' sit on their duffs and follow the Vols on television. Not really supporting them as a true fan would, that is monetary, showing up at games, going to the away games. I could only get tickets for Friday, but I did get them and go, and hope to go to the NCAA.

The Kentucky basketball team is about all there is to be proud of in that state.

Pearl's lost control of this team. What a sorry lot. I said 5 min. into the half that Tenn. wouldn't break 20 points by halftime playing the way they were. So - only 19 points. They're playing like 3rd graders. Prince dunks and then turns the ball over 10 times and misses two layups. What happened to McVey? Anybody who can actually focus on the basket would be appreciated.

so a bad half equals lost contol of the team?????--what an idiot---do

Pearl got some control back during half-time. BUT the team just isn't playing well. UT is the "best of the rest" in the SEC. Guess being No.2 isn't that bad a deal for a lot of fans.

volbald, we not doing that great but its ok to give some credit to the opposition , its Ok to accept that they are the better team, its OK to admit we cant be the best at every sport all the time--Kent is just the better team, deal with it---its nothing you have to feel ashamed about
