Derek Dooley isn't denying some issues with his first roster.
The new Tennessee coach just isn't overly worried about a lasting impact from them.
"Long-term I'm not (worried)," Dooley said during his pre-spring press conference today. "Short-term I'm very concerned. We have some short-term concerns that really can't be fixed."
Some need time, like the injuries that will keep cornerback Art Evans and linebackers Savion Frazier and Nick Reveiz mostly out of the 15 practices that start Thursday.
Another is more uncertain, as tackle Aaron Douglas deals with "personal issues" and is expected to miss a few workouts as well.
One has no quick fix at all, with offensive lineman William Brimfield already leaving the program.

Thank you KNS! Finally a football article NOT written by Hooker!!!! Even though it is short, it did tell us something and there were no references to LK! Thank you Austin Ward! I'm not worried either! CDD will deal with the issues that he has no control over and we will be ready to play some ball when the season starts! GBO!!!!

Wow, Coach Dooley really is tight-lipped. A whole pre-spring practice news conference with only 2 sentences. I guess he does believe in letting his team's play speak for the program, huh?

No one expects a 10-2 season this year. 8-5 is probably right. We have to be looking ahead to year 3.

Brimfield left the program?

Thats it? Wow I thought we would get more then that. Is press conference over? Surely he said more then that.

Listening to WVLT as I write this, they just stated that they want to get our opinion,Last caller just disagreed with their conclusion concerning the Dooley press conf, and they do not like it. Give the guy a chance--What do they want to hear? "WE'LL HAVE TO LOOK AT THE FILM."
Coach Saban, Meyer,or any of the other top coaches probably could not do more than break even this year, with the present group of players, and, especially CPF. We had better hope we have a whole lot of freshmen step up and do some major contributing this coming season.

CDD had a press conference at 12:30 est but I didn't make it home in time. Should be on the internet before long tho' It was streamlined on WBIR.com That's what I get for golfing today!

I could live with 7-6, but it could be a long season. But for now, we are undefeated!

What?!?! You mean a team without a proven starter at QB, a depleted OL, a fresh young secondary and injured starters should be worried about the short term in the SEC?!??!
We're in rebuild mode. Get used to it.

Go to utsports.com he talk over 30 mins about football these reporters om this site sucks go to utsports.com or volquest to get the facts!!! Give him time and dont set your goal to high we are thin and young im looking at 6 to 7 wins and this staff will have a good first year! GOVOLS!!!

For the life of me, I can't figure out what you beyootchin mopes want CDD to say. To me, it's refreshing to have a coach not trying to pizz of the entire free world. Leave the man afrikkinlone.

If your CDD you got to pitch a little doom and gloom so that when he has a great 1st year he looks good and gets a big raise! I look for UT to be better than expected in 2010.

The brief cryptic references to Douglas (personal issues), Brimfield (resigned) and Brown (contemplating transfer) suggest major events in the offing which are not fully covered at this site - certainly not on a timely basis. Can anyone out there tell me where I can go to get more timely and insightful info on the football team. I'm okay with paying for more useful info.

Out of the issues mentioned only Douglas worries me. Brown proved nothing last year. We have excellent backs to choose from in Poole, Oku, Williams, etc. Brimfield was never in the two deep rotation in the OL. We need Douglas badly. Injuries are injuries. Heal them, rehab them, and strap on the pads when you can get back. With reasonable time and more recruiting CDD and staff will have us back on top.
TommyJack writes:
I know. I guess they want him to guarantee 14 wins in '10. Unbelieveable.

6-7 wins is not what I will pay to see. Hamilton should have been fired a long time ago and UT needs a real president...not Prof. Simek (even though he's ah'ight).

Is watching on TV out of the question also

That last sentence.......?! Why is William Brimfield leaving? When did I miss that? And if he is that important to the short term goals why haven't I heard of him before?
tnaseevol writes:
I've been paying for season tickets since 1963. Will continue to do so. I was there when we were 0-6. Tennessee may not do too well this season; but should be rebuilt in 2-3 years. We cannot expect immediate gratification on this, we've been going down now for ten years ; can't bounce back in one year. IMO we will do well to have a 6&6 year. They are my Vols and I will support them up or down! And to be perfectly honest, I hope ALL TRUE VOL FANS will do the same.
Gator_Hater (Inactive) writes:
Some time ago I mentioned the possibility of Douglas wanting to transfer. Info was given by my brother who was working with Douglas's now-ex girlfriend. I was called an idiot. Because of that I never mentioned before that Monday he informed me Douglas had a restraining order put on him by the same girl, which also restricts him from going to the place she and my brother work. If that's not a personal issue, tell me what is.

8 and 5 nwcs? 8 and 5? I look at this schedule and I surely do not see the 8 wins you're hoping for. I would LOVE an 8-5 season, but a LOT of things would really need to come together for that to be realistic!!! We'll wait and see, there is soooooooo little football information that I don't believe anyone really has a lot of insight on next season. But we can all hope and all get behind our VOLS!

O&W game ticket s on utsports.com where you can find the facts and not the half of it like this site DD hasnt said have the stuff these reporters say there just trying to start something he doesnt care if ex players come either listen to the press conf. utsports.com then leave a message!!
agentorange writes:
seen every game since 1992. hamilton has made bad decisions that put the program where it is. we'll still go 6-6 if he's fired. so fire him.
VolFaninDC writes:
It does seem like a winning season will be a big success this year....as opposed to the glories of 8-4 that got Phil those big raises.

And something elese they could put theres no volwalk at the O&W game because of construction im sure these reporters would say its DD fault LOL!!

I just listened to the audio from the press conference at utsports.com, and it sounded like Dooley was saying William Brimfield wasn't displaying the commitment necessary to play division 1 FB.
Until I have reason to think otherwise, I'll trust Coach Dooley's opinions on these matters.
flatrock writes:
Oregon / Florida / Alabama / @ LSU = 0 wins;
@ Georgia / @ South Carolina / Ole Miss = 1-2 wins;
Even if Vols run table against rest of schedule,
we are looking at 5-6 wins. However, Dooley will
build the right way and get it done soon.
Go Vols!
Cldvols1 writes:
Oh ye of little faith! I'm telling ya this squad will finish .500 or better, mark it down.
Volunatic writes:
I think it's a little early to call the Oregon game an automatic loss. I believe their #1 QB and #1 RB will both be suspended when the Vols play them.
Still, it won't be an easy one.
GO VOLS!

What kills me is you fans that are foreseeing a 7-5 season or even 5-7 and when CD actually does that next year (soon forgetting) you same posters will be calling for his firing. Most Vol fans will NEVER be satisfied.

OK, here goes........
Probable Wins:
UTMartin
UAB
Memphis
Vandy
UK
Probable Losses:
Oregon
UF
LSU
Bama
Toss-ups:
UGA
USC
Ole Miss
Worst case scenario 5-7, Best case scenario 8-4
Realistically, TN will go 1-2 in toss-ups meaning TN will finish 6-6 in regular season.
Therefore, 2010 will be right about like 2009 in w/l.
JCJ1986 writes:
8-5? What are you smoking? That's 13 games, meaning we'd be in the SEC championship and that's years away. And it's more like 5-7.

Boy, I am sure glad Phat Phil is gone, this year and last year are really better than Phil's last years! What a future of hope. Hoping to go 6 and 6.
Already I see that the Phat Phil haters are apologizing and making excuses for DD like they did for CK. Wow, 2 years later we are really better off aren't we?
