Three All-America finishes boosted Tennessee on the second day of the women's NCAA swimming and diving championships, headlined by the 200-yard medley relay.
The quartet of Michele King, Alex Barsanti, Jenny Connolly and Kelsey Floyd raced to a runner-up showing in the 200 medley relay at West Lafayette, Ind.
The Lady Vols were timed in 1 minute, 36.90 seconds, trailing only Arizona's pool-record 1:35.75.
"That was a blast,'' said UT coach Matt Kredich. "It represents a whole year of that group having the goal of competing for a national championship. That was our best race by far. Michele had one of the fastest splits ever. Kelsey represents the future of this program.''
Connolly and Barsanti also won their first individual All-America honors.
Connolly finished seventh in the 100 backstroke (52.47). Barsanti took eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.83).
The Lady Vols moved up to 12th place with 78.5 points. Stanford leads with 266.5. Georgia is second at 262.5.
Softball: The 10th-ranked Lady Vols hope to record the program's 300th home-field victory today.
Sixth-ranked Georgia (20-3, 1-2 SEC) visits Lee Stadium for a 1 p.m. double-header that will be televised by CSS.
The Lady Vols (20-5, 2-1) are 299-87 at home in their 15th season. That includes 58-15 at Lee Stadium.
The series concludes Sunday.
Men's Golf: Tennessee beat only one other team and stands 14th after the opening round of the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
The Vols turned in an 11-over-par 299, and trail leader North Florida by 14 strokes.
Jay Vandeventer and Darren Renwick shot matching 2-over 74s, followed by David Holmes at 75, Robin Wingardh at 76 and Garrick Porteous at 78.
Rowing: Tennessee opens the season at 9 a.m. today against Minnesota downtown on Lake Loudoun.
The Lady Vols return 18 letter-winners and 11 new varsity members.
