Eric Berry signs with adidas

Former Tennessee safety Eric Berry signed a multi-year deal with adidas on Monday.

Berry, who was selected with the fifth overall pick during NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, will be the only NFL defensive back to wear adidas, which also provides athletic apparel for UT's athletic department.

Details of the contract were not released.

"Eric had an amazing college career and will go down as one of the best collegiate defensive backs in recent memory," David Baxter, Head of Sport Performance for adidas America, said in a release.

"We look forward to working side by side with him to create products that will help make him even faster and stronger in the professional game."

Berry joins tailback C.J. Spiller of the Buffalo Bills, Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints, Mario Williams of the Houston Texans and Lawrence Timmons of the Pittsburgh Steelers as adidas players in the NFL.

Marketing director Ashley Kerns of A3 Athletics negotiated the deal.

Outstanding EB, shed some of those proceeds this way if you like! LOL

Congrats EB! on a side note, it is rumored that local soccer star Derrick Brodus from Alcoa has decided to walk on at UT as a place kicker. The kid used to play for the high school football team and could easily kick 40+ yarders with ease and accuracy.

"Details of the contract were not realized."

I am not a lawyer, but if I had a contract where the details were not realized (fulfilled) I would be contacting a lawyer to sue somebody.

The definition of "realized" is...
1. To comprehend completely or correctly.
2. To bring into reality; make real
3. To make realistic:
4. To obtain or achieve, as gain or profit:
5. To bring in (a sum) as profit by sale.

Hey Hooker. take a few bucks and buy a freakin' dictionary, dude.

You are obviously a 100% jerk. Potato .. Po..ta..toe. This ad is not about proper dictionary definition. It is not about you. It is about one of the best football players to ever play for UT. Get a life. Jeezzzz.

Ever heard of Michale Palardy? Yea he's coming too!

Hold on--HollySpringsVOL is right. The sentence ("Details of the contract were not realized.") makes absolutely no sense.

We can only guess that the writer meant to say details were not RELEASED.

But then again, who knows? Maybe Marketing director Ashley Kerns of A3 Athletics NEGATED the deal.

Not that I'm complaining... this IS why reading KNS is such a good way to get your brain started in the morning!

Realized, released, what's the difference? They both begin with the letter "r", which is close enough for Hooker.

Look at your own definition, #4

"To obtain"

as in, the details of the contract were not obtained.

don't be dumb

source: I AM an attorney

I understand the main reason he left early was to take care of family, I wish one of my kids had the money he is going to have.

You left off the rest of the #4 definition, "as gain or profit".

As in, a company realizes profit or gain. It does not realize a contract. It's obvious it should have been "released" but spell check said "realized" and whoever wrote the blurb went with it.

Leave it up to an attorney to pick and choose the phrase that works out of context to fit the argument.

Source: I AM an accountant.

He used to be. He went with Reebok about the same time the NFL went with Reebok as its corporate uniform sponsor.

completely 100% correct!...Adidas sucks so bad! i can't even buy Tennessee stuff because it's adidas and nike is the only way to go...if we changed to nike, whether you like it or not, i promise we would get better recruits in football and basketball. i've talked to many ut athletes and they hate that they have to wear adidas. the kids love Nike.

Correct me if I am wrong. Doesn't the NFL require all the players to wear Reebok uniforms? So what will Berry wear just the shoes?
