Friday's Four to Watch

Alan Posey won't be the end of Tennessee's recruiting success in the Atlanta area if UT's coaches have their way. The offensive line commitment from Athens, Ga., could be one of many to decide to head to Knoxville. He'd better. The Vols' future success depends on it.

Rory Anderson

Position: Tight end

Size: 6-foot-4, 200 pounds

School/Hometown: Mceachern/Powder Springs, Ga.

Bio: Interest in Anderson continues to grow, especially among Big Ten schools. UT would seem to have the inside track. It is one of the few SEC schools aggressively pursing him, along with Ole Miss and South Carolina.

Jefferson Ashiru

Position: Linebacker

Size: 6-2, 215

School/Hometown: Mceachern/Powder Springs, Ga.

Bio: Originally from Nigeria, Ashiru is impressing college coaches with his athletic ability, but he is still raw. He has only a couple of offers - from Ole Miss and Southern Miss - but that list will grow. The Vols would certainly benefit if Ashiru's teammate, Anderson, committed to UT.

Thomas O'Reilly

Position: Offensive lineman

Size: 6-3, 315

School/Hometown: Pope/Marietta, Ga.

Bio: O'Reilly committed to Auburn last month, but that won't keep schools like UT, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Maryland from continuing the pursuit.

Brian Randolph

Position: Safety

Size: 6-0, 180

School/Hometown: Kell/Marietta, Ga.

Bio: With Georgia and Georgia Tech on his tail, it will be hard to pull Randolph from the Atlanta area. However, that's the same thing most said about 2010 UT commitment Da'Rick Rogers.

Rich,

I agree with you in the sense that's mostly all we've been hearing about. But I'd have to say it's what makes most sense, outside the state of Tennessee, because Lance Thompson is very well known in Georgia and the Dooley name. I'm thinking the UT staff is starting with what is easiest to build a foundation for the recuiting class of 2011. Once they get three, four, five guys committed, I think they'll branch out to all the states suggested in your post.

i agree with you to an extent.... we have offered around 100 kids scholarships so far, so we are still recruiting nationally and throughout the south east, but it does seem that we are recruiting GA harder then any other state...

I will elaborate:

Our coaches have been on the road over the past two weeks evaluating talent throughout the south.... Thompson has been camping-out in ATL.... Chaney was in VA last week (tidewater and richmond areas).... Hinshaw was in south florida.... Wilcox has been in south carolina... and Joseph spent the week in Louisiana.... Other then that i know that each coach has been assigned certain prospects in TN.... Additionally, i saw that Dooley is going to send coaches out to the west coast in coming weeks... Instead of assigning one coach to the west coach region, he is going to have position coaches recruit players that play that their position out west.... Also, we are recruiting two kids from michigan (i think chaney is in charge of their recruitment).... I think the problem is that the bulk of the news we get from the media has been about prospects from GA, maybe that is bc our recruiting board has more prospects from GA then anyother state.... Just a guess, but who really knows...

Something I was thinking also Rich. At Tec. DD did recruit in other places but now all DD thinks about is GA. It would be good to get a few good ol' TN boys at UT.

Does anyone know who all we have offered or where I can find that information? Thanks.

if you go to volquest.com and click on the prospect tab, you can look at our recruiting board by position.... next to each player's name they will say if they have or have not been offered a scholarship.... I'm pretty sure that you don't have to pay to see this feature, but i don't know bc i am a member.... Also, at this point in the year it is hard to figure out exactly what is going on.... UT has offered around 100 kids, and thats just one school.... It is hard for the media to keep track of everything that is going on this time of year, because the spring evaluation period is very chaotic and it is near impossible for the media to keep up with every prospect and every assistant coach from every school.... Hope this helps you out....

The homer part of your name fits you very well.Rich ask a question that he did not know the answer to and you had to make yourself out to be above him and anyone else. You should be ashamed. If you know the answer, why not simply give the answer? People would think a whole lot more of you.

The aim of a discussion should not be victory, but progress.

Let's trust the coaches decisions......hopefully when a recruit visits his name will be on the guest list.

We are BOC. Compassion is irrelevant. IQ's are irrelevant. The Hedges are irrelevant. Resistance is futile. You, like the rest of the state of Georgia, will be assimilated. We will add the most distinguished and athletic of your biological species to our own.

Go Vols!!!

I think there was another safety from GA on the 98 team that did pretty well. With an interception in the Fla game that was the best interception I've ever seen by a Vol.
