Are the Kiffins a $6-million coaching combo?
HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel," which aired a piece about Southern Californa football coach Lane Kiffin on Tuesday night, reported that the former University of Tennessee coach is earning $4 million, his father Monte, the Trojans' assistant head coach for defense, "around" $2 million.
No source is cited for those figures.
USC, as a private institution, is not required to publicly report coaches' salaries. An athletic department spokesman declined to comment.
Lane Kiffin made $2 million in his only season at UT.
Monte Kiffin made $1.5 million at UT and received a $300,000 bonus for coaching all the way through December.
Former Trojans coach Pete Carroll reportedly earned $4.4 million in total compensation during the 2006-07 fiscal year, which made him the highest-paid private university employee in the United States for that time, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.

Well at least we know why he left. Why else would anyone want to work in Watts with all the gang bangers.

Just proves that there is someone dumber than Mike Hamilton - which I did not think was possible.

Looks like Mike may need to get Bud Ford out of the mothballs to help repair his reputation restored with the public!

I thought I saw a poll asking something about what Volunteers did not want to have reported on GVX.....I'm pretty sure KIFFIN was up at the top of that poll so why are we having to read about this stuff?
Volunatic writes:
Well, good for him. I don't see how he could be worth it, and I'm really surprised USC couldn't find a more-established coach, but it ain't my money.

It sounds more significant than it really is. 4 million living in Cali is not much different than 2 million living in K-town. It's outrageous to live there.

You could tell Tuesday Night Gumbel thinks Liar lame Surfer Dude is a JOKE! Liar lame came across as he always does, a SLEAZE BAG 'A' HOLE!
He never promised players, recruits and fans he would not be at UT for a long time, MY AZZ!
This Liar lame story will only go away after USC is put on PROBATION and goes 5 & 7 this year!
Big Orange Volnation, we still have some meds to finish before we are better and this nightmare is over!
GO TO HELL, LIAR LAME SURFER DUDE!
GO VOLS, WE ARE UT!

What a waste of money. As my grandmother would say, "there are starving kids in Africa", yet we pay a loser 4M a year and the school teacher, policeman, fireman, etc make just enough to live on. What gives?

ENOUGH OF THIS BS ABOUT KIFFIN!

Four articles on Kiffin. Who cares? Please report on something newsworthy.

The hottest topic in college sports right now is expansion. Why not write some articles that give a UT/SEC viewpoint on that topic instead of regurgitated Kiffin articles?

Duke, fat boy ain't coming back. And when was his NC? 1998 And what did he win after that? NADA...and the SEC East doesn't award a trophy

Most likely a KNS toad. Now, moving on to something important. Who knew wonderboy was almost as good as Petey? Sounds like there is definitely something in the water in Cali.

He is also Mike Garrett's choice to replace a National Championship coach.

I don't buy this as a Hamilton screw up. First of all, the fact that a Top 5 program hired the Lane-Monte-Ed combination away from us shows that they have great value in the college football marketplace. Second, Hamilton had to have the vision and the stones to help make Monte and Ed part of the package, as compared to USC simply writing a check to get all three after they were a combination.

You guys did it to yourself...dont read the article if you don't want to hear about him. You sure did not mind telling everyone last year how awsome a 7 win coach was. Go ahead and talk about his moral victory against us lol...kinda sad

Ouch! And little wonderboy came within a whisker of doing it to the mullet family (I know mullet and family is redundant). '5 cities named after diseases' now that is funny. Maybe little bammer should stop sticking his nose where it's not wanted.

To say lane kiffin "earns" 4 million dollars a year at USC is a bit of a stretch, especially since he has yet to coach even one game as head coach. To say he will be paid 4 million would most likely be somewhat more accurate. Earn and being paid are NOT the same!
kiffin will never "earn" even 400 thousand dollars. Mark my word, he will fall on his @ss. He always has and he always will!!

Why does the media keep going on about this SOB. He came, he got what he wanted and he left. Nough said. The Big Orange Country has better things to do then keep up with Kiffin. He is in California, let him stay there and let's move on to better subjects. Let it go, people..............
