The 15th-seeded Tennessee softball team will open Women’s College World Series play at 7 p.m. EDT (TV: ESPN2) on Thursday when the Lady Vols take on 10th-seeded Arizona in Oklahoma City.
UT is 3-0 all-time in opening-round games with victories over No. 3 Arizona (1-0 in 2005), No. 1 UCLA (4-3 in 2006) and No. 7 Texas A&M (2-0 in 2007).
The winner will play the winner of the Georgia/Washington game.
This is Tennessee’s fourth trip to the WCWS, finishing second in 2007 and third in both 2005 & 2006.

Arizona will not be an easy series. They are the ones who put the LV out in the Championship Series back when Abbott was pitching. They have a deeep tradition in these things. Stay focused LV, bring home another trophy to Knoxville!

Lady Vols can do it. What they did at Michigan has to be a big confidence boost. They have proven to be able to handle the teams who have offensive tackle lookalikes who swing for the fences.

Have to say I like the excitement of playoff sports of any ilk,college football just seems to fade away at the end of season,tried watching Nascar for years,I just don't get it,I watched it in the 70's up to now and I'm still at a loss for whats exciting about it.

It's double elimination but until the championship 2 out of 3, you just place one game against each team. Kind of like hockey in the Olympics, etc.
