Comcast finally joined the crowd and just in time for University of Tennessee football fans.
Comcast announced Wednesday that it added CBS College Sports Network in the Knoxville area.
The Vols play Saturday at Memphis. The game will be televised on CBS College Sports at 8 p.m.
The network is available on Comcast's digital preferred and sports entertainment pack on channel 744 in standard definition and 393 in high definition.
"The addition of CBS College Sports to our lineup in Knoxville helps strengthen our commitment to give our customers the most live sports," said Valerie Gillespie, vice president for Comcast in East Tennessee. "College football fans in Knoxville are some of the most avid fans in the country, and we're confident they will welcome the addition of CBS College Sports."
Previously, only Charter (303), Knology (195), TDS TV (207) and satellite providers DirectTV (613) and Dish (152) offered CBS College Sports in the Knoxville area.
"Comcast appreciates the value of live, local sports action and we're pleased to expand CBS College Sports Network's reach to Knoxville viewers for this exciting football weekend and the start of college basketball season," said CBS College Sports Network executive vice president of distribution Bob Rose. "We're thrilled to serve a huge and devoted college sports fan base, providing access to the network's outstanding line-up of games and in-depth coverage."

If you are committed to giving subscribers the most live sports, then why are you the LAST provider to add CBS College Sports. Thanks for the reminder of why I switched to DirectTV. (I do miss CSS, especially for UT Hoops)

Will anybody have the game in Chattanoga is a great question.

I'm confused by this announcement. I noticed that I already had the CBS College Channel about a week or so ago. I already had the sports package. so, I'm curious...when did they actually add it?

Comcast in Nashville/Middle TN added CBS College Sport Wednesday as well. Channel 720 and the guide has the Tennessee Game listed at 7 PM Central.
GO VOLS, WE ARE UT!

We already get to see those two every week. This is about the CBS college channel and it carries lesser games like C-USA and the Mountain West.
Better late than never for Comcast. That is why I also dropped them. I was also tired of waiting for new channels to be added when all my satellite friends already had them.

Living in the NYC metro area, we have had CBS College Sports for some time now, and as you will soon see, they have great shows covering the SEC. It is also a great complement to ESPNU's coverage.

I don't pay extra....looks like you got scammed.

Way to add it at the end of the football season. Great "value" for the customers.

If those guys are so bad, why do you know so much about them? Or, at least, think you do!

I've already had this channel on Comcast since I purchase the Sports Package.

I hate cable. I don't mind paying a fellow UT alum and Oak Ridger HS alum for good service from DishTV.
