KNOXVILLE — In many ways, including the competitiveness of the games, the gargantuan gap between the Tennessee and Kentucky football programs has narrowed in recent years.
But the winner and the loser haven’t switched sides in a quarter century.
Kentucky topped Tennessee in a 17-12 stunner in 1984, but the Volunteers have since won every late-November clash with their Southeastern Conference foes to the north.
Right tackle Brad Durham, like many Kentucky seniors, has grown tired of walking around campus this week the past four or five years and hearing classmates say, “This is the year!”

I don't put much faith in past history for this game.
KY can be tough to beat. Think Vols win but watch out.

I truly believe TN can win this game in a relative decent fashion if we follow two rules.
1.Scoring - Sounds dumb, I know. But let me explain. There is a difference between scoring, and trying to score. The Memphis and Ole Miss games, we were scoring. The mentality was push it down the field, blow them out. Vanderbilt, we tried to score. No pushing down the field, we dinked and dunked, tried badly to run the ball with everyone in the box.
There have been too many years when we try to "keep so-and-so off the field", which is what I keep hearing with Cobb and their QB.
Who cares about Cobb and the QB? Go beat the team, dont worry about whether they are going to beat you when they are on the field.
We need the killer instinct, not, "we'll keep them off the field, and if we score, then great". It should be, "We score, you come and catch us". *see any article reference to Oregon or Auburn's game day results
2.Be a wuss - On defense, You dont have to try and take the guys head off every time that you get near him. TACKLE him. Too many missed tackles from trying to "hit" someone instead of trying to stop them. The "rip his head off" mentality will get you on ESPN two ways...first for knocking the guy out, second, for the guy bouncing off from you and keep going and scoring a touchdown. I think that there is a much better chance of the later.
Anyways, not sure if my points were expressed clearly, but I feel better...lol.

Keys to the Game:
1. Protect the danged ball. If we win the turnover battle, we win the game.
2. Defensive Line pressure. If we can disrupt their offense with just our front four (which has gotten better) we'll be sittin a lot better on D.
3. Be animals during plays, stoic after the whistle. In this rivalry game, emotions are bound to be running high and personal foul calls can be killers. (Fairley's penalty yesterday eventually led to a BAMA TD)
4. If it first the game or the breaks go our way keep putting on more steam!! Don't quit at halftime

All streaks come to an end eventually! Alabama, Boise State(etc). Hopefully, not this year! They need this to end their streak, but we need it to have any shot at being picked for a bowl game.
Play well guys!

We're going to have to play 4 quarters to beat this team. They came back from 18 down at half to beat South Carolina, and they have generally played MUCH better in the second half of games this year. Obviously we all know how the second half has gone in many games for us this year. That being said, I know we can win. And living in KY and working with a lot of UK fans, I desperately want to keep this streak alive.

6-6 wouldn't be a horrible way for UT to finish out the season, and a bowl win would bring them over .500 mark.
For as much as people say that the UT program is in shambles, the school has had how many losing seasons in the last 30 yrs.? I can only remember 1. Is that right? I think a couple yrs. ago we went 4-8 under Fulmer.
That's pretty good.
