Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley signals to the sideline during the Orange and White game at Neyland Stadium Saturday, April 16, 2011.

MURFREESBORO - Derek Dooley called his Tennessee football team a "really bad football team" after one scrimmage this spring.

The Vols still aren't where he wants them, but he said Thursday night that they have improved.

"We're a better football team," Dooley said. "That's really the goal of spring. Did we get better during the spring and does every individual improve their level of play.

"I think we accomplished that."

The upside of our team this year is the possibility of tremendous impact by the JUCO players coming in as well as some promising freshmen.

If we get early help in the defensive backfield and line, throw in a hot young receiver and punt returner, and look out.

The main story by far and away is how much and how quickly will Tyler Bray improve in his decision making under pressure. You can bet he's gonna get a face full early and often.

Why do you think anybody cares about Will Muschamp? He'll be gone in 4 years or less. He's the Ray Goff of Florida football.

ut will not win with la tech finest or with tyler bray a product of the manning-esque hype machine. ut sucks for the first 7 sec games, like they do every year, and then when they get to the annual "they remember what you do in november" cup cakes games vs vandy, kentucky suddenly the new ut qb is great and little peyton should win the heisma for running up the score on vandy& MTSU. but wait, throw ut up against a depleted unc team who had several nfl caliber players suspended and... the real bray showed up. yep, threw for 300yrds because he threw every down, but just like ole happy feet, tosses 3 picks to blow the game. typical ut.... he is an awful qb on a truly terrible poor coached(14 players on the field-lsu)team.

Iam not so quick to dismiss Brays bad spring game..Hope this isn't the making of a soph. jinx..The offense seemed 60% pass last year with Bray..For sure he has the tools but there is a big difference between playing Vandy and playing Bama.Iam not a big believer in leaving the QB in when he's thrown 3 INT's by halftime. The days of letting QB's or receivers play thru bad first halfs should be over;;It's time to play for wins!!!Simms doesn't have the ability to lay the ball in like Bray but he's battle tested and has leadership skills..IMO offensive success lays squarely on Chaney's shoulders. We have competent TE's and a up and coming versatile FB so make use of them on 3rd down!!This is year 2 with Chaney and with a more experienced OL so making first downs no matter who the opponent are important..A summer with QB's working with WR's should iron out whatever problems showed in the spring..Not sure what to expect from the defense?? I can see where Jackson and Lathers could be all SEC but losing Janzen really hurts..All in all I would just like to see the Vols beat Bama or Fla and GA, It would prove to be a huge confidence booster..7 straight losses to the Gators is embarrassing and MUST end this year!!!

This from a dude pumpin' the Little Willie and Big Chuck Show? Now that's special! What was Jerry Folly thinking?

The good news is that once the season starts and the Gata losses start rollin' in, little DC will disappear from here ... just like last year.

DCflorida quote, 2010 ... you nailed it:

"Brantley, one of the worst QBs in the entire nation...."

Winning 70% of the games we've played over the complete history of the program sounds pretty good, Jethro. It would also tend to support AC_84's claim that "we've been on top for the most part...." But I guess you can "spin" that anyway you want.

You can justify it all you want, but I still would rather have Fulmer on the sidelines than our current LA-Tech Coach. Please Dooley make me eat crow this season cause I cant take anymore seasons like last season. I believe thats just wishful thinking on my behalf haha.
