Science Hill baseball standout Heath Loyd commits to Vols

JOHNSON CITY — Science Hill High School baseball standout Heath Loyd committed over the weekend to play at the University of Tennessee.

One thing that apparently impressed the Vols about Loyd is his versatility.

"He's a heck of a hitter and plays every position," said Science Hill coach Ryan Edwards. "He has a lot of good tools, and he can throw in the mid-80s on the mound.

"He runs above average, and I think his power is projected to come as he gets bigger and stronger."

mid 80's is ok if he has some junk on it. Welcome, hit 'em straight and often.

Thank you! That was the one I saw elsewhere. Did it make gvx reg ever? Must have made it and got buried right away. Although I didn't find it...

Just think.. last year at this time, we were about to wade further into the cesspool that was Todd Raleigh.

A year later, we're landing good players in the state, and making Vandy mad 'cause we're getting to them before they do.

So far, so good.

Give 'em time to jell, and if we can hang onto them, we'll be back to the CWS in a few years!

Totally uncalled for concerning your defamatory term for Coach Raleigh. Ok the program was poor agreed, but the personal name calling completely unnecessary. Someone's dad/husband/son etc. State the fact we were poor and basically non-competitive,but leave the name calling to the third graders ok?
