The skinny: Downs was one of the Vols’ earliest commitments and didn’t entertain any offers thereafter. He wrestled with a tough decision to enroll early because of his affinity for basketball, but ultimately decided to end his high school career in December. After participating in a couple of bowl practices, he returned to campus in January and has been focused on adding muscle to his frame.
