Short story: Worley has the dubious distinction of becoming the first player to ever win the Gatorade National Player of the Year award and not be a four- or five-star player. His numbers speak volumes, as he tossed for 300 yards or more per game without much hassle. He played in a high school offense that is as spread as it gets, so there will definitely be an adjustment period before he fully grasps UT’s pro-style attack. He’s already on campus working out the kinks as one of UT’s six early enrollees.

Glad to have you in orange Justin but this isn't exactly the scoop of the day.

He has two years to work out the "kinks" as the article puts it, and then off to the races.

Don't like making predictions, but facts don't lie. If SC HS football is only as good as TN HS football, this kid will be the best pick, UT will have had since Peyton. Frankly UT HS FB 6A is only equal to 3A FB in FL and TX. But just to complete as many passes as he did in HS is incredible. Arm strength is not an issue when a kid can throw 50 passes in a HS game. We are talking about a 15,16,17,18 year old kid for his career. He is one of those rare players. IMHO.

My guess is that Justin Worley is perceived (justly or not) as a system QB, much like Graham Harrell (and his three predecessors at Texas Tech in the 2000's under Mike Leach, and like the Gus Malzahn QBs at Shiloh Christian (Floyd and Lashley) and Mitch Mustain at Springdale (who is in the news in a bad way right now for selling prescription drugs on line) who set national records in high school, but were never heard from in college. These teams used spread offenses and quick throws for short yardage, much as other teams would use the running game. I hope that this young man fills out and proves them all wrong. Go Vols! SAVol
