The skinny: Lane was a long-time Clemson commitment but de-committed late in the process. The Vols were quick to get Lane on campus and he committed shortly thereafter, giving UT much-needed depth at a major position of need. If he regains the burst he had his junior season before knee surgery, he can make an immediate impact in 2011. Lane was cited for possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana in December but plans to contest the charge, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Congratulations Marlin! I remember when you were a little guy playing basketball and football. It is nice to see you head towards your dream/goal! As you know, we moved up here a year ago and the boys have become Vols fans after attending Dooley’s camp last year. They are excited to be able to watch you play again! Having played the ten years in Florida and this last year up here, they appreciate the changes you will have to deal with. The boys said to tell you, "It wasn't too bad. Get to play in some cooler weather for a change. Don't let the elevation get in your head. lol" They are hoping to play with you again in 3 years!
