The skinny on Curt Maggitt

Outside linebacker, 6-3, 195

West Palm Beach, Fla. (Dwyer)

Prospect Rankings

247sports: 4-star

Rivals: 4-star

Scout.com: 4-star

Honors: Rated as the No. 12 outside linebacker in the nation, No. 31 player in Florida and No. 198 overall player in the nation by Rivals.com … Slotted as the No. 10 weakside defensive end in the nation on 247sports.com.

The skinny: It's uncertain where Maggitt will play at the next level, but it's certain that he's one of the top players UT was able to snag at the last minute. One of the quieter kids throughout the recruiting process, Maggitt went to Florida for his final visit, but left unimpressed. He was originally supposed to announce his decision Thursday, but opted to leak the news out Tuesday.

I am really excited about this. I think he should be a great outside linebacker here.

This is a GREAT late day get! We really need linebackers and, if the staff can get him beefed up through the weight and agility program, he can really help our Vols early on! Welcome aboard, we are excited to have you! GO VOLS! YOU GO COACH DOOLEY!!

Guys I don't wanna be a buzz kill but please look at this guys highlight video http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recrui... While he is a top prospect don't expect him to be starting in the near future. He needs to become alot more physical in his playing style, especially against the heavy run game that dominates the SEC. He is also going to have to work on his tackling ability. I think in the end he is going to be an amazing linebacker but I would not expect him to see much play time, or at least any that he was being a dominant force in until his Junior year at earliest. Sophomore year I can see definate play time but not to much impact.

I think Maggitt is going to be a beast. I can't wait to see what Wilcox does with this guy!

sounds like he has a great attitude. Like how he stayed under the radar and wasn't a showman through the recruiting process.

Also like how he was "unimpressed with UF"

Way to go CDD...sign em up...suit em up...and let's bust some heads this year! Peace and GBO!

I love you Curt!!!!!!!!!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some analyists are saying he will be a defensive end. He can easily put on 20-25 lbs so that is a possibility but I still see him as a linebacker.

Considering he was being recruited by Wisconsin, LSU, Miami and Florida State- this kid must have something going for him. If he can disrupt in a blitz package, its a needed addition.

I want to see some Magic from Maggitt and we may just do it. So glad he is a Volunteer. Welcome to the fold man. It just gets better.

what team did you used to coach for?

Or maybe you worked for ScoutsInc or Rivals.

If you are gonna give an opinion as specific as yours it would be easier to believe you if you state your credentials.

Were you one of the critics who said Bray was too skinny to play in the SEC?

Sorry to be rude but none of us know.

I think J Worley is gonna be one of the best QBs in the country in a few years but thats my opinion. Could go either way as could your opinion.

I will say that BOY THIS CLASS HAS SHAPED UP TO FILL ALMOST EVERY NEED WE HAD TO FILL!!!

I would have liked to see one more big time Tight End but overall I am happy where we stand.

ESPN has us at #17, which shows the lack of love ESPN gives UT. They have FU at #4???

UT-6 ESPNU150 players
UGA-5 ESPNU150 players
Yet UGA is ranked #9 and UT is #17. I understand they may have some ranked higher but it does not explain the huge difference in ranking when we have more players in this class.

I do not care about the rankings, just showing the lack of respect ESPN gives us.

I am very impressed with CDD and staffs ability to sign the great players needed!

Long as he can move laterally quickly, come on in, young man.

Interesting....One big selling point about Tennessee is the deer hunting up here. He loves to deer hunt and is looking forward to hunting in Tennessee!

His speed is great. Nothing prettier than a leg sweeping tackle before the sweep can get going!

TitanandVolfan4life writes:

Before this young man graduates he just might earn the title of "Sack man".

He's fast so the other teams QB's will be keeping 1 eye on him all the time.

WELCOME to our Big Orange family young man !

Eat right, hit the weights and the books and make us all proud.

VFL...GO BIG ORANGE!!!
