Vols,

Looking at the photos shown, and admittedly I don't follow U K that much, I don't remember this Harralson
last year being much of a factor. Of course they had the one and dones, Cousins, etc.

However, he was a terror against us in this game last night. And, he's a senior I believe.

You have to admit, year after year playing freshmen who are there for just one year, says something about their talent. JMO

He has hardly played at all until this year, but this year he has done what he did last night pretty much all season, though not usually with as many points. CBP's post-game interview said it all. UK was successful turning the corner on our defenders, Brian had to come over to help, and that left Harrelson open on the weak side for the rebound put-backs. Someone from the back-side should have rotated over to cover Harrelson on those plays, but I'm pretty sure he was an after-thought in the pre-game scout anyway.

My reaction to Pearl's return. Read the university's honor code. Cheating and lying would get other employee or student run off campus. I can't react any way but negatively towards his return. A blackeye to the university.

Did anyone really think that we'd win at Rupp? Hoped yeah, but really believe? we're more likely to upset Florida...I hope! Pearl just back, Hopson still sore...Williams scared...Harris going against 3 at a time...NO ONE hittin' any part of the glass or rim on shots...and more imprtant no one hittin' any part of the net...At 55 and rheumatoid shoulders I can shoot better than they did last night!!(OK a little overstated) Honestly I quit watching at about 12 minutes left. It was just too hard to watch a team with so much potential play so sloppy and lost on defense. sure they're talented, but we're talented with experience? It should have been a fun close game regardless of the winner.

At 3.7 pts. per game since Louisville you can bet he was an afterthought.....and then there's Liggins.

I continue to be amazed at the # of afterthoughts who keep lighting us up with career games.

I don't really care about this round ball girly game. We kick KY EVERY YEAR in football, that's what really matters.

dvsvol writes:

When we had 6 - 7 scholorship players in Pearl's 1st year, we pressed the inbound pass with venom. A loose ball? It was OURS!!! In fact, we scrambled after the ball when it was firmly in the other team's control until it BECAME a loose ball. Our undersized kids fought and crashed the boards as though they thought they were giants. That worked well enough to win the SEC. Isn't that the year we beat eventual national champion Florida? TWICE? That season I had never been more proud of any VOL team. Walking through the stands pregame was that team's pledge to play with a superhuman effort. They were more concerned with making a layup that went tamely off of the backboard and THROUGH THE HOOP than they were with a highlight reel attempt at a slam that bounced SO IMPRESSIVELY off the rim and into the 20th row of the stands (which we see so often this year). I miss that 1st team. Alot. They didn't need to bemoan after games "we will get IT fixed by the next game".

Several of our current guys could have played at their choice of schools. They've proved ability at Pitt and Nova, just not the drive to maintain the momentum. So, what's going on? Seriously, it was painful to watch the last 2 games as well as several others.
Answers? No. Questions? you betcha. Why do we quit pressing, NOW, when we finally have a deep bench? Why, when someone makes an inspired play must he go directly to the bench (where muscles tighten, losing all effectiveness when re-entering)? That old crew, who COULDN'T leave the floor because there literally were no viable, able bodies to replace them, actually seemed to enjoy the extra work! And there was certainly no lack of cohesion or teamwork; they had only their small group and a coach that put them into the right frame of mind, the right position, and in the proper physical condition to perform miracles. Why would anyone believe the benching/resting "strategy" we see now could lead to a cohesive unit? "Offensively", why do we gently toss the ball around to other perimeter players until the shot clock begins to expire and we heave up a desperation shot? Why do we look utterly lost so often? Why, on those occasions when a rebound does happen to COME TO US, resulting in a 3-on-1 fast break, does it seem to be so little advantage that this "team" STILL has trouble scoring? And, why do we dribble off our considerably large and slow-moving feet and miss routine passes? Is it because we must have that split-second advantage (gained by not watching the ball in to our paws) for that aforementioned highlight reel move? Does anyone else wonder just what we DO practice between games? Freethrows perhaps? I don't think that's it, do you? Revisiting basic skills drills would probably insult some of our prima donnas, but jeez Louise! I wouldn't care so much that this team is losing so pitifully if only they would give the effort of that 1st Pearl team. I miss my Tennessee basketball team of old. Alot. And I have questions, don't you?

Humiliated last night watching 6 players, most of them freshmen outplay a veteran club. But that is always the case with Pearls teams.
It's called the YO YO effect. Up and down, up and down.
It's time we get a coach in here with integrity and one that puts the team and the university in front of his self promoting arse.

After watching these young men play last night it is very obvious that the players are wishing that TJ was still on the bench and not Pearl. I'm sure the players would welcome anyone other than Pearl.
Its very obvious to all Vol fans that these kids do not respect Bruce Pearl and who could blame them? He lies, cheats, and then makes a mockery of the UT by spilling crocodile tears on national TV.
Its time for a change and any true Vol fan that cared about the school would agree.

Pearl has peaked... I think his problems have led to his having lost the confidence of the players and no question he is not getting the most out of this team. It all started after the Pitt game and corrected itself some during his absence, but its back to square one again and how does Pearl ever overcome this at UT will continue to be a mystery and probably a BB team not accompolishing what the fans expect.

Wow. If you have never lied, then your post might have merit. I am amazed at all the Haters on these message boards. Whether you choose to believe it or not, it takes integrity to admit that you have lied. Saying nothing after the fact would show a lack of integrity. If you are a fan, stand by your coach. If you are a Christian, stand by your neighbor. But, hey - if you're perfect, brother, preach on.

What is it that we are supposed to get ? That YOU believe that NO ONE at the University of Tennessee supports Bruce Pearl ? Your most recent post is absurd, to say the least. You are saying that NO ONE likes Coach Pearl - not the players, not the coaching staff, not the students, not the faculty or the fans. Wow. You are so knowledgeable. NOT. The players CAME to UT because of Bruce Pearl and his staff. You will be hard pressed to find any staff member - coaching or faculty - that will say anything negative about Coach Pearl. And as for the fans - well, you don't speak for me. I am a Volunteer and I support my coach. And if you are so anti-Bruce Pearl, I don't think anyone would mind if you found another team to "cheer" for.

Joking ? Not really. My point is...if you -or anyone - for that matter, are so anti-Bruce Pearl, anti-UT, etc., why do you read GoVolsExtra ? Believe it or not, there are many Bruce Pearl supporters. He has a proven winning record at our university. I proudly stand behind Coach Pearl and our team.

Volchick, first, you are arguing with a jackasz who poses as a woman with a "husband and friends". Who does that? Second, misery loves company. Some people love to see other people fall because it makes them forget about their miserable lives. Then they hate on the internet because their anger can come out, anonymously.
