CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Exactly one year ago Wednesday evening, one of the most controversial, least satisfying hires in college football history came to an unexpectedly swift close.
That's the night Lane Kiffin left the University of Tennessee football program for Southern Cal after a mere 13 months on the job. That's the night UT athletic director Mike Hamilton learned the bitter lesson that swinging for the fences sometimes leads to striking out.
In Kiffin's wake has come a three-pronged NCAA investigation into baseball, men's basketball and football that may ultimately do far more damage to Bruce Pearl's hoops Vols than the other two sports.

From what I've read the FBI is investigating Auburn intensively. If what is being discussed is true then Chisik and Auburn is going down hard.

some key recruits visiting Knoxville on their last visit. Can UT reel em in?

JUST IMO,
Hoke is Hokie and don't fit with the high and mighty MI Alumni, his presser was lame (no pun)
Chizik is as lucky as the Mad Hatter Miles, he would have loss 5 games this year without Cam Newton, that's a fact.
The Liar Lame Surfer Dude is just an IDIOT A HOLE and Tennessee will thank their stars this year that he is GONE! Liar Lame, go play in the ocean during shark warnings! I will come add the bait and fish guts!
GO VOLS, WE ARE UT!

You mean pay players? Sure...it can be done just as easily at Missagain as Allbarn.
nocleats writes:
It also depends whether the next Cecil Newton is willing to take an "I owe you" that will be paid after the smoke has cleared in 3 or 4 years too

If anyone seriously believes that the results from this season for Awbarn was due to CheeseRichard's great coaching...I have a nice bridge for sale which you can make a lot of money off of.

The real question here is not about Hoke, is it. The real question should be, "Can Derek Dooley copy Gene Chizik's success?" We don't give a flip what Michigan does or whether it can revive it's program from the ashes. All I care about here is, what kind of added recruits can we bring in here and how fast can Dooley and company bring them along to restore Tennessee to it's rightful place competing for championships. I am very optimistic about our future and am already excited to see our spring practices and Orange and White game.....(although enough with the "white stuff" at this point). GO BIG ORANGE!!

Doubt it. Michigan's not a serial cheater and they're already on the NCAA radar.

Probably not

Sure. If they can find a Cam Newton.

Much like Alabama did when they bought their way out of the Florida State game.

You guys crack me up! You come on here with your "from what I've read" comments or black helicopter stories like about the FCA or paying players like you're reading a freaking press release from the FBI and/or the NCAA. You DO realize that there is made up stuff on the Internet. You DO realize that these stories you quote like your some insider somewhere, other than your mother's basement, are from TigerDroppings and Bama Online? You DO realize that the two programs hurt the most by Auburn's success are LSU and Bama, right? So when there are some hard facts presented by a reasonably objective news source, bring it on. Until then, just suck on this: Auburn University 2010 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
Haters gonna hate......

"Haters gonna hate...." What, like, are you, like 15 or something?
You DO realize that this is a VOL-themed site, don't you? Don't like to hear "black helicopter stories"? Don't come on opposing sites and read stories about Auburn because there are gonna be comments concerning the "pay for play" scandal.
Don't like it? Too damn bad.
OrangePride writes:
Hey Joe.....take a chill pill or something. First, there IS (or was at this point) a LOT of credible, objective news about your QB in a pay for play scandal. And it turns out to have been factually accurate. So don't come on here acting all offended that questions and rumors seem to continue. Second, no one here is annoyed if you cut into Alabama's or LSU's recruiting base, so why even suggest that. And finally, as for your ridiculous in your face comment on Auburn's national championship, probably 90% of the people here in Knoxville were pulling for the Tigers to win that game bigtime. We may be enemies on gameday, but most of us pull for SEC teams when they play outside the conference. So let me be a little more generous than you; Congratulations on your National Championship. Thanks for keeping it in the SEC. Now GO VOLS!!

The third program hit hardest by Auburn's success? Auburn in 2011 and following.
You said it yourself that there are two opponents hurt by your success. They won't take it lying down. The backlash is that they'll try to create a credible charge, call in the NCAA hounds, and put Auburn into a hurt locker. If you're true blue Auburn, you'd know that.
Besides, "black helicopter" is sooooo 1995. Today it's "black UAV".

This column is incomprehensible. He blindly rambles from Kiffin to Pearl to Muschamp to Chizak and finally to Hoke with nothing that even comes close to making sense connecting them. Maybe the writer is suffering from early Alzheimers. Or could it be that he had no real idea for a column and just started typing out random thoughts? If I had paid 50 cents to read this, I'd want my money back.
