What to know about GameDay in Knoxville

Here's what Tennessee basketball fans need to know for Saturday's ESPN basketball doubleheader at Thompson-Boling Arena:

Tonight: UT students are encouraged to pack their sleeping bags for a sleepover inside the arena.

Students can line up at the student gate beginning at 5 p.m. Gates will be open from 9-10 p.m., with the first 600 students allowed to camp inside, with food, raffles, video-game challenges, a tour and a movie provided. The first 450 students get a T-shirt.

Saturday Morning: Gates open at 8:30 for anyone with a ticket. ESPN's College GameDay Show begins courtside at 10 a.m., featuring Rece Davis, Bob Knight, Digger Phelps, Jay Bilas, Hubert Davis and Erin Andrews.

Noon: Tennessee and Vanderbilt tip it up in the men's half of the doubleheader on ESPN.

Saturday Evening: Gates open to women's ticket-holders at 6:30. The GameDay program begins begins at 7. The Lady Vols and Vandy women tip off at 8, also on ESPN.

Naismith Exhibit: An exhibit from the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame will be open to the public in Pratt Pavilion from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, and on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is free.

Thank goodiness for the Lady VOLS.

Hope the women's game is packed. They have a chance to go all the way if they continue playing the way they are, and it would be great to see the arena full for a national TV audience.

Wish I could be there. Sounds like a blast.
Time for the men's team to turn things around.
All of you that can attend, make us proud!
I'll be watching on TV for sure.

What a wonderful opportunity to showcase our university and our men's and women's basketball programs.

But instead, we and the entire national audience will be hearing, ad nauseum, about the Bruce Pearl situation.

If we're lucky they'll actually focus on the basketball games once in a while.

Thanks Coach.

MNVol,

You're right. This is all about the NCAA and ESPN.........Tennessee will get a little bit of it with the 2 games.

There would not be a Bruce Pearl Situation, if Bruce Pearl had acted appropriately. No one to blame here except Bruce Pearl himself.

What a burden it must be to be the only sane person in your little dream world! By your standards, there are about 15K+ "parents and fools" in the arena for most LV games and several hundred thousand more watching on TV. With all the turmoil in other programs, the LVs and Pat Summit are about the ONLY parts of our athletic establishment that are recognized for consistent excellence in nearly every part of the country. Pat is almost universally recognized as one of the greatest coaches and leaders in ALL of sports. If you can't see that, YOU are the fool!

Gee lil' zzgatafellar, missed your post last night about how you "Just got back from G'ville watching your Lady Lizards take down ..." What? Oh really? Your Lady Lizards didn't show up for the game? You drove all the way to G'ville just to watch the Lady Vols practice?

Guess I'm a fool, 'cause I love my LADY VOLS!!!!

Go BIG ORANGE!!!
Flush the commodes!!! Woohoo!!

Why did you copy my login?

Guess I'm a fool as well since I'm women's sports all the way and the Lady Vols are #1 in my heart that bleeds orange. I don't watch men's sports, but at least I can respect the men's game without any name calling.

Everyone should also know that for two hours of the men's game, ESPN will talk about Pearl and his suspension. That is the only topic that they will discuss. They will have graphs and charts to re-enforce there point.
During the Lady Vol's game, if they can possibly bring up the subject of Pearl, they will.
ESPN plans on giving U.T. alot of negative air time. Of course, Kiffin would think that any air time is good air time.
This is what you need to know about GameDay!!!!

Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I happen to love both Men and Women's basketball at UT. I support both teams equally and will be there tomorrow with my family to cheer them on!

Amen! You eloquently said just what I was thinking. I don't miss a chance to watch the Vols or Lady Vols and I will be there tomorrow supporting them both! Go Big Orange!

ladivolfan, you've just been introduced to the most dedicated (read: pathetic) troll for men's basketball articles. Please don't feed this troll or any other because they're rewarded daily for posting on this site.

The Lady Vols have brought alot of attention to UT along with some great basketball and a clean run program. More than we can say about the mens program.

98reax,

Here's the deal on Mrpearl2 and Cantstandsaban.....
you know, the resident trolls here.

You see, they have this problem..............envy.
They are so caught up with Tennessee jealousy they can't help themselves. So what's left?

Simple. To let off their frustration, envy, ignorance, etc.............they just hang out here saying pretty much nothing, hoping somehow the insults will be somewhat effective.

Oh well, MrPearl2, Cantstandsaban, Shen24 and the like. Close, but no cigar trolls !

Amen to that! I wish some of the fans of the mens program were smart enough to realize that Coach Summitt is all class and has done it the right way. Coach Bruce Pearl or his players are always in the news for the wrong reason.
Really wish our fans were smart enough to realize that we are now the butt of most jokes in NCAA circles.
But at least they have their Icon to idolize. Who cares how much shame he has brought to the university? Will we see him cry again this weekend? What a damn joke?
