Pat Summitt plans to sit Angie Bjorklund (sprained foot)

Tennessee women's basketball Pat Summitt said that she plans to have Angie Bjorklund sit out Thursday's game against Mississippi State at Thompson- Boling Arena. The senior guard is nursing a sprained right foot.

"That could change but as of right now I want her to rest the foot,'' Summitt said on her weekly teleconference.

Summitt indicated that she will challenge the rest of the Lady Vols to cover for Bjorklund, who is Tennessee's all-time leading 3-point shooter.

"It's time for them to tell Angie 'Don't worry about it. We've got your back,' " Summitt said.

Good decision. It’s also a chance to take a better look at how other guards play together and with the team. Also, I would like to see passes only they and recipient know are coming, post players get the ball at the instant they are open, and the ball kept away from quick hands of opposing guards.

This could really open up a pandora's box of different defenses. some making the Lady Vols' game difficult. Many knock BJ for her excessive dribbling, her inability to make plays for herself, and oftentimes being held scoreless because of jump shooting inaccurracy. That being said, Angie is drawing attention, double team defenses more times than not, leaving teammates open to score. BJ on the bench will result in problems of a different kind for Pat and staff from Sharon Fanning's Bulldoggies.

It will be interesting to see how the Lady Vols will respond with yet another starting lineup to a team that always gives us a scrappy game.

We'll be fine. Someone else will step up and they are certainly capable. It isn't like there is no talent sitting over there.

Right now Angie, get rest and come back soon !

Should not need her for this game in fact they should be strong enough to play any game with-out any one starting player and still be strong.

Lineup:
PG- Kamiko (give her the ball and some freedom!);
2G- Simmons (forget the PG Experiment- turn her
loose at 2G- she and Williams will be best duo
in SEC);
3G- Spani (emerging star);
4P- Stricklen (too quick for bigs- too big for
small forwards);
5P- Johnson (a warrior).

This lineup may not start- but should be in at
crunch time. Manning should be getting more minutes- she is a "glue" player, kinda like
Dane Bradshaw and will be instrumental to
how this team finishes.

Meighan will be dynamite from the two and Kamiko will probably record 10 assists. I look for Lauren Avant to play in this game. But If there was ever a problem for State it is Tennessee's inside game of Cain, Johnson, Stricklen, Baugh, and Brewer.

I know Pat likes Glory to come off of bench, but flatrock said it best. Spani needs to shoot more and drive to the basket. This would be my line-up with Manning and Brewer 1st off of bench.

Cain too slow and can't catch the ball when thrown. She needs to learn how to meet the ball.

Flatrock, you almost hit the nail on the head. Brewer was MVP of SEC tourney last year.

I like it. I'm beginning to be curious about seeing 5 start and stay til the game's in the books. I wonder if anyone has the wind for it?

Again all the side line coaches know more than Coach Summitt and her staff. Lady Vols are not a one player team with the emphasis being put on team. I'll be there to watch the Ladies do what they do best. SEMPER FI!

Am concerned about a soul who claims to be a UT alum but CHOOSES to support UA football...sounds like a made-for-TV movie...I am putting in a call
to ESPN to do a 30-on-30 Feature...did you marry
into UA family and cave during football season?

I sure enjoy reading the various opinions about the LVol team. To me that's what these fan sites are all about, the enjoyment of discussing "what ifs'", player potential, and other things. Maybe it's not as much fun to you as to me.

Everyone will step up and cover for her I think. With Stricklen, Spani and Lil Bit all dead-eye 3-point shooters, MSU's D will still be wondering how they can defend the orange!

if you are a Bama Football Fan, you needn't claim to be a UT alum...we wont claim you!
