Jarnell Stokes, one of the top men’s basketball recruiting targets in the nation, still has Tennessee in his sights as a possible destination school.
Stokes will be in Thompson-Boling Arena on Sunday for the Vols’ showdown with Kentucky, making his second unofficial visit to the UT campus.
“I was there for the Alabama game, too,’’ the 6-foot-9, 245-pound Stokes, who attends Central High School in Memphis, said Friday night in a phone interview. “I’m coming to enjoy a good game and catch up on some relationships with the (UT) coaches, players, and my brother, who goes to Tennessee.’’
Stokes is ranked No. 9 in the nation in the Class of 2012 by Rivals.com, and the Vols have been active and at the front of his recruitment.
Stokes said he has followed the pending NCAA case with the Vols closely.
“Whatever happens, it won’t affect me,’’ Stokes said.
Stokes said he’s not sure what to expect from UT against the Wildcats.
“It’s been tough,’’ Stokes said. “But Tennessee can also beat any team in the nation.’’
